CD Shuffling when car is off

This might be off topic, but here's what happened: Battery woke up dead one morning, jumped it, wouldn't hold a charge. Had it towed to the dealership. They claim that when I uninstalled my amp I loosened the pos battery cable as if this would cause it to drain but still allow it to run when jumpstarted. Had to pay $85 to get it back, but now the CD player makes a shuffling noise, even with the key out, and just says "CD Error" when running. Oh, you can BET I'm getting my money back and switching dealerships.

Just thought I'd warn everyone to be on the lookout for this problem!

My Shaker 500 just started doing the same thing and my stereo is stock. Grrr... Since I'm stationed in England and it's sort of hard to go to the dealer for replacement, I just ordered a Kenwood to replace the piece of dung.

CD Error

I had the exact same thing happen.

Seems like the shaker 500 jammed and could not locate or eject the cd's in the unit. The thing kept cycling and also killed the battery.
Also had the "CD Error" message

Took it in and had it replaced under warrenty at no charge.
They had to send the old defective unit out to have the CD's removed.

Ugh! those are all my best CDs! Did you ever get them back?

Jet, that's a really lousy situation! I guess the dealership wouldn't take it on faith?

Yeah BatNastard, the Ford dealership I called didn't really want to touch it because it's american and they're unfamiliar with it.

I bought the car while over here from a military car sales on base. They do have a small garage that'll cover the warrenty out in town. Which they did help reset reset the engine light one time (make sure you put the gas cap on tight). If they order a new Shaker it'll take a month or two to get here. So, I'm taking the quicker way with the Kenwood, and it'll eliminate the worry of it happening again.

Just wish me luck getting my CD's out.

This happened to me too but it happened when my alternator died. The low battery message came up on the radio display then CD Error city. I brought my car in late yesterday and there will be a replacement unit here tomorrow. I was told I would get my CDs back from the repair facility in 3-4 weeks.

Yes Bat> It took a few weeks but I did get the CD's back. Interesting thing is the service folks searched through about 10 packs of CD's until they found mine.

Seems like there are a few of us having this issue.

So a have a hookup at a local dealer with the parts guy. I gave him my Shaker and he gave me a new one. I plugged it in and the interior lights on the buttons would not light up. Apparently these radios need to be programmed to each car to work properly. So I brought it into his dealership this morning and they had to download the software off the old radio and upload it to the new one using the World Diagnostic System (WDS).

So much for buying a used radio off of ebay!
