Can it be done: Two single din units

Can I put two single din units in the place of the shaker 500 headunit in an 06? If theres room to do it, im sure I can make a brace to hold it all in place.

Thoughts?

Yea, I have seen people on this forum that have done that. The adaptor plate that I have seen METRA 99-5807 has a bar across the center of it. If you install two HU you leave it, if the HU is a DDIN then you remove it.

Not for sure locally, but you can get it from Crutchfield.
Looks like Circuit City carries it too.

Well they are going into PSH. Since we havent gotten confirmation from any manufacturers on a dvd/navi unit for the car, I am putting in a panasonic DFX-99 cd player (older but looks cool) and then a kenwood KGC-9044 in-dash eq/crossover/spectrum analyzer.

They will stay in to power the kicker audio system untill we get something better.

I'd have to say it works pretty easily. This is the Metra kit listed above, and some custom brackets to hold the Omnifi in a spot. It is DIN sized, but the mounting brackets are non-standard. These will be replaced by either a JVC or the new Panasonic DD unit.

Thats similar to what this will look like when done. Cant decide on which to put on top, the cd player or eq.

Btw, what wiring harness do I need to tap into power etc? Im going to be running all new wire to the speakers so tapping into that isnt a need.
