Boston Acoustics SL80's on ebay
Boston Acoustics SL80's on ebay
How can some of the ebay stores sell the SL80's for half the price that Crutchfield sells them for? Are they the same exact speaker? Are they re-mans? I realize Crutchfield includes the installation kit and connectors, but there is a huge price difference.
The ebay stores are not authorized sellers of Boston. Boston has a minimum advertised price that all authorized dealers must adhere to, or they lose their right to sell the equipment. You will get no BA warranty off e-bay. Of course, you could but the things 2.5-3x without coming to the warranted price. Also, the chances of blowing Boston speakers is nil.

Unless you're using outboard amps or something.
i beg to differ, i put in some old DB speeds that are just coaxial 5x7's and they hit alot harder and sounded better than the stockers, but so far i am loving my pioneer 3-ways i have installed
I'm glad you like them, but for sonic accuracy, rear speakers are the opposite of what is needed.
Also, on low power, those 3-way Pioneers are nice little speakers. I had some in my F150 off deck power (from a SOny XPLod, no less) and they sounded great.

Don't know on that one. I haven't been able to get my hands on the trunk box cheaply yet. I'm still swapping door woofers more often than underwear until I find some that make me happy. Next up, Morel H8.1's or MW265-4's.
Sorry for the grainy pic, blew it up to show the speaks.
I have some SL-80s in my vert. Great for rear fill. However, I have aftermarket amp so I can't speak as to how they will do running off the stock amp. Keep in mind the stock speakers are like 1ohm, not the 4ohm that these run.

There are huge savings on car audio online. You don't get manufacture warranty as described above but you often get seller warranties. The value of that depends on the reliability of the seller, of course.
I bought some Diamond audio HEX components from an online dealer and payed like 200-250 less than they normally sell for. They still work fine and it's been like 3-4 years.

Not that any of that junk'll ever make it out of my storage shed.
