well you would only be able to cover that one part because the other two are part of the stearing wheel, Ask KC and he can get you the whole stearing wheel

I don't want the 500 wheel ($$$$$$)

All three covers are the same part# on the standard IUP wheel. It appears that the bottom spoke on the GT500 wheel is the same piece just in black.

If I can get three, it should be no problem putting them on the IUP wheel.

Don't think paint will stand up to the wear & tear on a steering wheel and KC hasn't responed to my email.

Yeah, I don't think paint will look right or hold up well with rings/watch bands, etc. Let us know how the black turns out, I think that's a neat idea.

I would be surprised if this is an individual item available through ford. Since they are aluminum you may be able to get them anodized or e-coated. I think it would look really good with the dark charcoal aluminum.

I don't think they are aluminum. The part appears to be plastic with a simulated aluminum (vacuum plated) finish.

Well I got a reply from KC.

While the part is available KC doesn't think it is exacly the same and wouldn't fit properly. Second let's just say that even at KC's price it would not be economical to do the swap. I'd have almost as much in the wheel as a GT 500 wheel costs.

There are two different spoke covers, the lower and the two upper ones. both are black plastic with the aluminum looking coating on top. Both are easy to remove and re-install.

I'll think I'll check around and see if there is someone who can buff or polish that coating off. I'd just prefer an all black wheel.

Looking at the other wheel in their auction, they might be the company that made my wheel. http://www.stwheel.com/Merchant2/mer...egory_Code=SF5

Nope, saw that site. That kit is only for the base wheel, the instructions say it's not for an IUP steering wheel.

I've got a guy here at work checking with someone to see if the covers could be low pressure media blasted to remove the AL and leave a matte black finish.

Well that sucks that they won't work. I have the IUP and was thinking about getting them and having them 'chromed'. I don't like the satin finish, I'd rather a polished chrome look.... hrm, now what?

You can chrome plate plastic now.

I know plastic can be given a chrome look, my problem is if these 'spokes' won't work with the IUP, what can I purchase to 'chrome' in order to replace the ones on my IUP wheel?

Yep real easy. Just lift by the outer wheel edge, then up and out. There are just four pins that wedge into soft rubber holes. It's all a friction fit.

As for what to use to replace them, I know a while back you could just order the IUP covers by themselves. I remember seeing a few sets on eBay, plus Kevin had them on his hot sheets at one time.

Also, plastic CAN actually be chromed. Not just a chrome look.

BTW, I just checked, and they definitely aren't interchangable. Not even left to right. All three are a different shape. (see pics)
