I'd like to see this as well. What about the chrome rings? Are the available in black too?

Ok, just to be sure

I received my black vents today that come attached to the panel. These don't seem to be able to just be "pulled out" without breaking the two retaining clips that hold the inner section with the vents. Everybody is saying that it's an easy switch, but in order to pull these out, you have to hold the clips in to get the piece out. I'm pulling as hard as I can on these without breaking them and they will not come out due to the two back pins that have to be pressed in from the back of the panel. Unless, this requires that the dash is taken off, I don't see how these can be pulled out? On these replacements, sure it's easy, just turn the panel with the two vents upside down and press the back pins in and pull. But, if your just pulling on them from the front vents, they go nowhere. I'm obviously missing something here. Help!

When I swapped mine with a member on the boards here all I did was gently tug at the chrome ring around the vents and they pop right out. Pretty easy just take your time.

Ok, got one of the black replacements off

Ok, I guess it just takes more force than I ever would have expected. They do come off, but you have to pull hard enough and put a great deal of force for the pins to release. A rather scary amount of force if you ask me, but they do release. Thanks!

Kevin is the man there at Clevenger Ford! Fast delivery, including posters, calender and assorted pamphlets/info. Thanks!

One person says pull on the vents and another on the trim ring.
Which one is easier?

It's just as easy/hard to pull on either one. The tabs that hold the trim ring on are more fragile than the posts that hold the vents though.
I've taken mine out a few times (for pics and to show others how to do it) using the trim ring, but the last time was one time too many and those tabs broke.

I like the silver registers on a silver dash. I don't like the silver on my Charcoal dash.

Looking for Part Numbers

Does anyone know the Ford part numbers for both the Black and Silver vents (with Chrome rings)?

Thanks!

Ever thought of going with the brushed rings to better match the Nexus guages. Theres no changing those rings on autometer guages but the GT500 has brushed

I never thought of it, but I will consider swapping them out. It should look really nice! Although, I like the chrome because of the stock gauge cluster.
