Has anyone taken delivery yet with a B-series Shaker installed from the factory?

The test to determine whether A or B series is mentioned in other threads, but I'll repeat it here just in case:

1) turn head unit on
2) set to FM/AM
3) hold 3 and 6 at the same time
4) a message displays something like:

sr3t 18cb 15gb

The last letter should be 'b' for the newer B-series, or 'a' for the A-series.

YES!! Thank goodness... I'm picking up my car tomorrow; I went to check it today and the display had a "b" at the end.

I just checked mine and it said "4R3T 18C8 15GG". I have the Shaker 500 and my car was built on 10/4/04, shouldn't it have an A at the end? I had a couple problems at first, but it works perfectly now.

Mine was built on 10/11 and ends in "15GG" also.

I had a couple early problems also, but nothing recently.

Picked up my car last saturday. I have the "B" version, and NO the CD issues are not gone. Mine plays CD format ok but will not read MP3's. Also it changes songs at random times (in the middle of the song). I'll be taking it back to the dealer soon to have this and the global open crap fixed.

I just got mine swapped out for the B series. This morning my whole system was messes up. I only had sound from one speaker. And it was all distorted. I checked to see if it was set to "all seats" and it was. I ran the self test and it passed. It was on an mp3. So I switched to a CD and had the same problem. The radio also did the same. I hit the power button, and instead of turning off, it fixed the problem.

Freaked me out!!!!

I would like to believe that all the recently built cars should have revision "B".

the self test dose not give you the revision number , the unit need's to be removed to find the revision number. mine end's in "G" also.

Copied by me from another thread:

O.K., so my Shaker 500 "series A" had all kinds of problems--not only skipping, but a CD jammed inside the carousel and I could not play, load, or eject any CDs! Additionally, the CD player made a machine gun like popping noise every time I opened the door, or started up, as the CD player was trying to initialize with the jammed CD still inside of it.

I got the new head unit in today (March 1st) and ran the test, and my new Shaker shows a letter "H" at the end of its code. It works fine so far, but I did notice much stronger bass coming from the subwoofers in the door--everything rattles when I turn it up now (I guess that's why they call it a "Shaker," huh?)

Someone in here mentioned getting a letter "G" at the end of their code, so I am starting to wonder if this is as simple as "series A" or "series B?" Maybe the letter is just part of a serial number that has already progressed through much more of the alphabet. Maybe the early "A" serial numbers were bad units, but beginning with the "Bs," and everything after that, the problems have been mostly resolved (I hope.)

And from a later post (again by me):

We had both of my units out--the old and the new--and niether one had an "A" or a "B" designation on either the part number (which is evidently the same for all of the units) or the serial number (which should be different for all of the units). There was a small, round sticker with the letter "B" on the back of the new unit, but no one has said that is how the "B" units are being labeled.

Additionally, although my CD player seems to be working fine, I am having other problems: my radio buttons are not lighting up when the lights are turned on--although they do light up in the diagnostic mode and the connections all appear to be secure. And the unit just doesn't sound the same: way too much bass.

Anyone else got any similar problems?

Had mine replaced for the skipping and bad disc message issues. When it came back it played wonderfully but the backlights didn't work at all, just the display window. The code ended in "b" on the self test, and failed with a b2477 code or something very similar. Some other post here said that was the code to get it reprogrammed, so back to the dealership I went. It has been in for three days, and the dealership is saying it needs replaced b/c it wouldn't take the reprogram. How do we know if we get the series B or not?

Just a little update:

The procedure to get the part # for the radio on the 2007 is slightly different.

While in AM/FM mode, hold 3 and 6 to enter the speaker walk-around test, and press Preset 1 to enter the diagnostic mode. Press 6 to find config status, and press MENU UP to find the part #.

My Shaker 500 was 7R3T something something and ended in "F".

"sr3t 18cb 15gb" is probably 5R3T, "5" as in 2005, like 7R3T = 2007 part #.
