B&M Auto Shifter
I just read the bad news on the GT Performance Forum. Doesn't look to good to me either. I guess I should have posted a picture earlier during the design phase to give an idea of what I thought a good auto shifter should look like.
On my '96 I had an MGW round billet **** with the release on top (GT Logo), a Momo leather boot and Bullet bezel ring. Unfortunately, MGW stopped making those *****. The boot covered up the selector window and the OD switch, but those things were never a problem to me. It looked great. I could always find the right gears, and I knew where the OD switch was.
My daughter's Navigator has a great looking shifter. Leather boot, OD switch on the side of the ****, release on top. Much better looking. Maybe that could be swapped into our S197s.

I too am bit disappointed. I really wanted a boot and a T handle, or at the very least more of a matching look. I know I can buy the T handle, but the base looks very naked and the shifter itself is now too skinny. However, all of my concerns can be fixed with a boot.
I may still purchase it (undecided) but only if I can find a way to attach a leather boot to dress it up.
And before I get flamed about complaining after the fact
I specifically asked for a boot, asked to remove the logos and to make it look stock as much as possible.

I agree, a boot would help. Many auto shifters in other cars have leather boots. Also, the relocation of the OD button is not a great thing. Having it on the **** would have been very handy. I like having it on the stock T-handle. You can turn it off very easily.
northwest, your thandle will still work etc with this, in other words they will sell a t handle or other handle with a button on it so you can still have o/d on the handle and use the other button for line locks. It will work both ways.
They do have it mounted on the bezel but it can be used for line locs or o/d, in other words you can buy a wired t handle with a button and use that for your o/d instead and use the button on the bezel for line locks. If you read his 40 page thread it explains that a t handle with button is available. good luck
