I recently installed some AutoMeter Cobalt Gauges. I believe that I have everything installed right. I'm having two problems. When I start the car the gauges don't allways calibrate and there for they don't work. Only the O2 gauge works, not the fuel press or the boost. Sometimes they all work. My other problem is when I turn the car off the gauges seem to stay on, the O2 gauge keeps flickering back and forth.

I thought maybe I hooked them to the cigarette lighter that stays one, but after double checking they are all wired to ignition 12v. I check the volts between the 12v line and the gauges when the car is off and I get 3v.

Anyone else have this kind of trouble. I am about ready to rip the wires out and double check everything. Thanks for any help.

Jon

You might want to have a mod move this to the performance section. It probably will get more looks from the right people. This thread seems to be more for car audio, custom interiors and stuff.

You may want to wire directly to your battery to test if there is any difference.

Thanks for the info. I isolated things until I found the problem. My car pc was putting 3v back onto the line even when the car was off. The gauges wouldn't reset because they allways had juice.

Can you give us some more install info. I am looking at adding the same kind of gauges for the CDC dash pad. Using Fuel/AIr, Oil press and either oil temp or water temp.

How did you fix the problem? Can you include pics of the wire routing and some insite for us?

Thanks

You need to find a better power. It's a biotch to find a good clean power under the dash there's always something goofy with every line we checked. We ended up grabbing power off the column near the key cylinder. When I installed the Nexus gauge setup I was getting the same erroneous problems and once I found good clean power all was well.
