I just realized that my door locks dont lock automatically like they do on 95% of the cars that are built today. (Whats up Ford? )

In any case, I would think Ford uses the same part on all their cars to perform this neat little trick. Does any know anything about it?

I am going to do some research and see if I can adapt a part from another Ford into this one. should be able to do it.

From the 2006 Owner's Manual:

Autolock (if equipped)
On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, this feature
automatically locks all vehicle doors when:
• all doors are closed,
• the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position,
• the brake is pressed before reaching 5 mph (8 km/h), and
• then the vehicle increases to more than 5 mph (8 km/h).
Relock
The autolock feature repeats when:
• an “autolock†occurrence has already taken place,
• the brake is depressed while vehicle speed is less than 5 mph (8
km/h),
• any vehicle door is opened and then all doors become closed again,
and
• then the vehicle increases to more than 5 mph (8 km/h).
Deactivating/activating the autolock feature
Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is in the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position and all vehicle doors are closed.
You must complete Steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must
wait 30 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition from the 3 (ON) to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to the 3 (ON) position. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long
chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position. The horn will chirp
once to confirm the procedure is complete.

Your car has a manual transmission, doesn't it?? If so automatic door locks only operate on cars with automatic transmissions.

We have a 2001 Manual Tranny Focus, and it autolocks the doors when you start moving. It also has a memory for the seat tilt :bang:

For what it's worth, I tried to enable the autolock on my Manual GT. Even though I got the correct indications, it still wouldn't work.
