There was a press release on Tuesday, Oct 16, from the company that makes the adapter. Initial production will go to dealers before the rest of use can buy one. Suggested retail is $375.

Got the part numbers:

A7FCS-HDRADIO-A without Ipod connection
A7FCS-HDRADIO-B with Ipod connection

I got the B unit with Ipod connection ordered through TeamFordParts for $259. The A unit is $239. When I get it and get it installed I will report back.

Email Bill directly at bjenkins@teamfordlv.com. He has a few on order from Ford and should sell you one when they arrive early next week.

The first ad from Ford was on the radio today. It is supposed to fit any Ford radio from 2005 to present. Attached is the instruction book from the vendor.

Interesting read. I notice it does not show anything specific for the Mustang, nor any instructions for the HDRadio's use when plugged into the Nav Radio. I also followed the link in the pdf to the applications guide and there is not one there for the HDradio module. They did have some other interesting products.

Other than the statement that it should fit ALL 2005 to current mustang, there is no indication that it works with a nav radio or how to use it with one. I did see a photo of a nav radio in a lincoln in the install instructions. That made me feel slightly better. Guess I will see what happens when I plug this thing in.

I also thought it interesting that the AM and FM selectors on the radio will no longer function and only tune static. That's a pretty poor integration for a 'factory' upgrade. They could at least have included a Y connector to connect the antenna to both the HD unit and the factory unit. Better yet would have been to capture the AM and FM selectors to the HD unit.

Oh well, I look forward to giving it a try. May even have to break down and buy an Ipod. Are there other brands of MP3 players that use the same connector that I could use? What are the options here? I have a large music collection but do not do business with Itunes.

The HD radio upgrade with iPod connection is at my house waiting on me to return home for the weekend. I look forward to installing it.

I have owned and used many mp3 players but never really ventured toward an Apple Ipod. Will the connection ONLY fit an Apple brand Ipod or do other brands make models with the same docking conneciton. Its not just a stereo speaker adaptor, its full function control throught the head unit. Plug the ipod in and leave it in the center storage console.

I am looking at some pretty good deals on referb 60gb 4th gen units on ebay just for the car. At about $100 give or take, seems like a pretty good deal for this purpose. I'll never use it for personal carry or travel use as my Treo holds 16gb of music and I have to carry it anyway.

Is this a pretty good unit to be looking at in this price range?

Well folks, you need to wait a bit longer to order this one. Seems its not all quite ready for prime time just yet. I got the unit and attempted install this weekend. The harnesses etc are all oem quality and it is a plug in installation. Unfortunatly, it will not communicate with the Nav unit in my GT500. I hope to speak to the tech support folks later today (they are not open on Sat or Sun) and see where we go from here. But for now, the claim that it fits all 05 through 08 Mustangs is simply not true. I'll follow up when I know more. Bummer, I was really looking forward to this. The Ipod connection is a true data connection to the ipod, all navigation menus for selecting playlists, artists etc is on the head unit displays, pretty slick if they can get it to work.
