Anyone put in a rearview mirror/camera?
Anyone put in a rearview mirror/camera?
I am a gadget freak, and want to add this to my car:

or

Anyone done this?
Can you recommend a unit for me?
Cheers

I don't remember, I got it off of ebay from a Toyota dealer. At the time, I think Rostra manufactured the reverse camera systems for Toyota. I'll see if I can find a current price somewhere. I put that in well over a year ago, and with technology prices it could be a lot more, or a lot less now.
jim010 - PM incoming sir.
I had to modify a custom mount for her Jeep though since it doesn't use a standard mirror mount. Don't ask me what I did, I really don't remember. I don't think this would be necessary on our Mustangs, it should be a straight forward install since the mirror mounts to the windshield.

I got the mirror today. It is new, and I got it for $100. It is a Rostra, and is for a Toyota, but it snaps right in. I'll put it in this weekend, but I need to figure out where to put the camera. Suggestions?
Cheers

Looking at what others have done, it seems to be that trunk keyhole is the place to put it.
I have a convertible, though, and if the fob goes dead, there is no way of getting into the trunk. I thought of a remote trunk switch, but this also needs power.
I am concerned over nothing?

OK,
I need help here.
Where do I tap in for power? The wire is labelled ing power, which I take to mean ignition power. What wire am I looking to tap into and where?
Cheers

Generally you just want a switched 12V, which you can get from the passenger footwell fuse block, just get an add-a-fuse to push in, look in your owner's manual for a diagram and open slots, then try with a voltmeter/cirucit tester til you've found one that's on only when the ignition key is turned.
