I routinely use the cruise control while out on the highway, but hate having to tap the brakes or throw in the clutch to temporarily suspend the control when catching up to slower traffic or reduced speed zones.

There are so many terrific mods that have been painstakingly designed and illustrated in these pages, and I am wondering if anyone has devised a ‘Cancel’ switch for the Mustang’s Cruise Control? It obviously couldn’t be on the steering wheel, but I wouldn’t think it would be difficult to wire up a switch somewhere to emulate the ‘brake on’ signal to the CC system. Anybody?

I can't think of anything that would actually be easier or SAFER than tapping the brake?
If for some reason your "mod" doesn't work and it causes an accident your insurance may pay for nothing.

have you ever tried pushing the "OFF" button on the steering wheel. That has done it for me every time i just want to coast to a lower speed then i press "ON" then the "+" to set my speed again.

I think he means that it annoyed him the he can't hit resume that way.

Its just to hard to press all those buttons as Im texting, photocopying and making a phone call. Come on really, is it so much, the buttons are right on the steering wheel. Your hands should be there anyway.

I usally have my G/F work the buttons while I'm driving.

I know that this will sound a little crazy, but if you pull up on the parking brake lever just enough to trigger the light on the dash (not enough to engage the brake) it will CANCEL the CC. It also beeps at the same time the dash light is triggered. You can then resume when ready. This also does NOT cause the rear brake lights to come on which could confuse those following you. I have been doing this for years with no issues. My car is a manual and I'm not sure if autos behave the same way.

to me it just seems like this is getting more complicated then it should be. If you press the brake to disengage the CC then you have to reset it anyways. If you jerry rig a switch it will have the same exact effect that pressing the "OFF" button would do. Really what are you looking for because i do not see a way of improving on what Ford gave you.

I didn't realize that feathering up the parking brake would suspend the cc. That's an option. Wonder if there's a way to wire into the parking brake switch to create a "Cancel" button (as opposed to the "Off" button that does not allow the "Resume" switch to operate).

Edit: on second thought, the handbrake switch also turns off our DRL's, which would look like we're flashing at the cars ahead. Guess I'll stick to taping the brakes.

Not on mine you don't. Tapping the brake should allow you to use the "Resume" button to get back up to speed. If it doesn't, you might want to have your CC checked out.
