Amplifier input

I am getting ready to install an amp and would like to know the options for amplifier input. I know i can do preamp input with a SoundGate LOCB.2, and tap the wire at the rear speakers. is the SoundGate LOCB.2 worth the $90 price tag? how much better would that sound? can i just tap the preamp and run that to the amp, or would it cause problems?

i've had all kinds of issues when i tapped my amp into the rear shelf speaker using a high-low convertor.. the sound quality was just too bad, and my Amp would frequently overheat and shut off!

then i installed the LOCB.2 and tapped into the front amp inputs.
it made the difference of night and day!
i only wish we had an equalizer on the head units, rather than just a bass and treble control.
otherwise i think the sound quality with the LOCB2 is as good as it gets.

where can you buy the LOCB.2 at? i have looked but cant find it, all the searches come up with are forums, and the main soundgate page, that doesnt sell them.

if you're using the passenger door amplifier (found in the driver side kickpanel on the left, below the driver side amplifier)
unplug the wiring harness, remove the electric tape and pull back the loom, then locate the Preamp signal positive and negative wires.

these are Brown/Orange for the Positive signal
and Red/Black for the Negative signal.

good luck
