Ambient lighting?
Is there a way to purchase and install the new ambient lighting features from the 08s into the 05s? At least the center console cup holder lighting.

What's the interest in an LED kit to retrofit into cars without it?
We've got a source for the electronics, and obviously we can make the bracketry to make it a bolt-in, so I'm wondering how much interest is out there for this...

Well, I am always interested in retrofitting options in newer cars into mine. I have done the passenger power seat, heated seats with OEM switches, OEM nav, and now looking into this.
Can you have it so the lighting changes colour as in the 08s? What about the cup holder - can that be done?
Cheers

Cup Holder / console area can be illuminated, not a big deal and was in the plan. But making the colors "hot swappable" is not in the realm of what we can do right now - there's a bunch of colors we have to choose from, but once you decide on a color for a kit, that's the color you'd own.

Any idea on when they would be available?? Are they gonna be compatible with the Ford parts??? I would rather get someone from SHR. You guys make great stuff/ I have the billet fuel cover and the rear medallion.

Compatible with Ford parts? Not sure I'm following here - it will be a kit of our own design, so it won't "swap" with existing Ford offering, but it will update / improve cars that don't have the Ambient on them. You could replace an existing setup if you desired though.
Timeframe - still in limbo as we say around here - it depends on a lot of factors - demand, cost to produce (which translates into what we'd have to charge to sell, and is it a reasonable amount), other things we're committed to already, etc... but if I had to guess, I'd say Q1 2008 right now.
Keep the discussion going - we're still early enough in the concept stage on this one that we can incorporate good ideas into the final design.

The rear footwell lighting is on the sides of the center armrest, pointing horizontally away from the center, towards the sides of the cars. Is it possible you saw this light reflecting off the quarter-window area from those lights?

1) I checked, no quarter window lighting, just footwell lighting.
2) Footwell lighting is actually really convenient. I never thought it'd be practical, but it makes it REALLY easy to find stuff that you dropped.. also probably the easiest mod to do yourself. They're just 4 LEDs (one per footwell) in holes drilled into the plastic trim...

Count me in for a cup holder kit.
