Adhesive on dash for satellite radio- will it ruin it?

I'm trying to decide where to mount my Sirius Starmate Replay. I don't want it anywhere above the dash (rearview mirror, etc.) The best place appears to be just above the glove box, below the aluminum IUP panels. The only way to put it there that I know of is to use double sticky tape or velcro tape. (I've seen the Pro-Fit mount, but it looks to me like the bracket width is actually larger than the Starmate, and I don't want to see any bracket above or below the tuner). I'm just worried that if/when I remove the tape later (months or years), it will discolor or somehow ruin the plastic dash.

Anyone have any experience with this, in any car?. Does the tape residue remove easily? Is the plastic underneath the tape a different color than the rest of the dash (different fade pattern)?

I had my XM Skyfi2 on my old cars dashboard for over a year and when I removed it after gettin my stang, there was no mark at all. the tape didnt want to come off in one try but even with it finally off after 5 or 6 pieces, there was no residue, mark, or discoloration. you should have no problem. all i have to say though is you only get 1 shot at sticking it on the dash

if you peel it off for a second try it will not be as strong.

Thanks. I'll probably use velcro so I don't have to worry about it being perfect.
