There is an earlier post about adding a clock to the dash between the two center vents. I always liked the idea so decided to give it a shot. Yes, there is a clock in the radio but I like the look and can't see the radio clock very well during the day since I drive around with the lights on.

I confined my search to stick on clocks as I did not want to cut up my dash. What I found is this clock by Marlin's

It has a chrome bezel and appears to be good quality. It comes with the double sided tape for mounting and the battery. Looks gold in some pics but it is chrome. It is 1 and 3/4 inches across, the biggest they have. I would prefer something just a bit larger but this is the best fit I found. Clock is not lit but they do have a light if you want to figure out how to wire it. They also have a black face but I liked the white better in this spot. It is easy to see while driving and the tape is holding fine. Probably about 1/2 inch thick which looks about right.

The jury is still out but I do like it. Realize that some won't like it but all opinions are welcomed!

Hmmm. Nice idea and you did a great job. I just wish it was at the same angle at the vent ports. Oh well.

Good one.

Why ? yes this opinion is negative, why add a clock? doesnt the radio tell the time, youre wrist watch, youre cell phone, and who knows what else. What a shame...

A shame? It's not welded on, just stuck on, easy to remove. DISCLAIMER: No 05 GTs were destroyed while testing this mod! B) Just experimenting, thanks for the input.

Sean, yeah, the angle won't be matching the vent ports. Not real obvious since it is fairly thin.

I think it's a nice touch. I wouldn't do it myself, because when I'm driving in my Mustang, I don't like to know what time it is. Too busy driving and having fun to worry about the time. But it looks almost factory how you have it. I wish it matched the angle of the vents too, but looks good.

I like it. It fills in the area between the A/C vents nicely. As far as "What a shame...shame" goes, whats your point? What would you add? Not very constructive criticism.

Thanks Val. Yes, this can be a tough crowd but I don't mind. When you want honest opinions this is a great place to get them. The first time this idea was floated with a very nice photo chop, it got a very mixed review so I anticipated some of this. I find that often when you ask folks you get some really good replys like "Not for me but you might try it like this...". I'm sure someone will come up with a better way to do this and I for one will be interested in seeing how it looks. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and decide. If I don't like it I'll just pull it off and use it at work. I always want to know what time it is there!

It's your ride, if you like it that is what matters. But I think I am in the why add a clock club? There is already a clock in the car.

You're right, but sometimes I have a hard time finding the clock among the other data on the radio. I think my eyes take a second to focus once I've taken them off the road. Darn contact lenses!

My '96 GT had a cyclops unit on the dash that was relatively easy to read, mounted high so you didn't really have to look away from the road too long and wasn't obscured by other info. A lot can happen in a split second at a high rate of speed; being able to see the time without averting your eyes from the road could mean the difference between hitting someone or NEARLY hitting someone else. Just my 2 cents...

And I think the clock has a classic look.

I think it ads a classy look too. I think it was an Infinity I rode in once that had a clock set center dash like that.

I, however, wouldn't do it myself.

Great idea, if it was a little bigger it would be perfect.

I like it! Trouble is, the clock always says the same thing....."it's time to drive!" :drive:

I have an aftermarket stereo that doesn't display the time and the song titles at the same time. I also don't wear a watch, and my cell phone is often in my pocket. It's a great idea but I would worry about the glue ruining the finish on the metal? Thos elines are just etched on from what I can tell, not sure of long term affects of the glue?
