Accent Interior Door Panel

Hello Mustang Owners !!!

New to TMS,

Have been attempting to find White Accent Interior Door Panel Replacements for my Performance White 2007 SGT. Believe these were options available for the California Specials and I also believe in GT500's.

Have searched the web, but so far... no dice !!!

Does anyone have the scoop on where I might find these ???

Thanks for your help,

James/shelbygt07

Your best bet is to go to an automotive upholstery shop where they can find a matching material and install it for you.

Every now and then some door panels with inserts pop up on eBay, usually out of cars that had accidents. Gotta be patient, though...

Thanks for the welcome note. Not sure exactly for the Grabber Orange Interior, I believe it was a custom job. To the best of my knowledge the Red Accent Interior was on a GT500 and the Dove Accent Interior from a California Special.

Yup, doesn't appear to be a standard Ford Part or an after market company out there so far producing these, but to be more specific that's what I've been hoping to find...

White leather door inserts (to match the Ford OEM insert material) for my black door panels.

I'm sure there's whole lot more Mustang folks out there who would love to purchase accent colored inserts to match their paint color if made available on the aftermarket...

(hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink :{)

So far it appears that I will need find a great local upholstery shop in my area. Anyone have high recommendations for the Seattle / Everett area?

Thank y'all 'stangers,

james/shelbygt07

yeah, afaik, no one makes them after market. i have been looking around too but like it has been said, it seems an upholstery shop would be our only option right now.

i know a lot of people have been resorting to the colored vinyl piping around the perimeter of the insert. i tried the tinsel color on my car, but didn't care for it.

Have you considered vinyl paint or dye?

Yeah, I turned some black door panels for a 260Z white once. I have pictures, but pre-digital. I'll try scanning and posting them. This was 10 or more years ago. I remember them turning out ok, no over-spray or runs. I only had the z-car for a year after painting them, but the color held up fine during that time.

miami corp has the vinyl in dove which I assume is white. I would get a standard set of panels or another iup set and get them recovered or dyed.

just do them yourself?? i did mine blue last night. first time ever attempting something like it..

remove old insert, scrape off glue and padding, add new padding (i went with memory foam, so comfy) and then add new material. i used marine vinyl, all my products used were bought at jo anns.

they have whites also, many shades.

vinyl

Finally found and scanned some pics of the panels. They were black. I used a rattle-can vinyl paint or dye. I think that it was Dupont. The coverage was good and no over-spray issues.

That spray paint/dye in a can does not hold up well. I purchased a car form a classic car dealer and the guy had pinted the seats and door panels. When I bought the car, it looked incredible but after a year, the paint started to fade and crack. It totally ruined the interior to the point where the seats needed to be re-upholstered.

I would go with the materail from Miamicorp. I did the rear side panels on my convertible to match the red IUP interior. I think the door panels would be even easier to do. Here is a link to a write up theat MTAs did.

dye

yeah, I don't know how well the spray dye would hold up to an a$$ being dragged across it every day if you used it on the seats. The seats in the pics of my z-car are covered with white vinyl replacement covers that I installed. Did your sprayed door panels crack? I had mine in the Florida and Texas sun while I owned it, and my sprayed panels were fine.

yeah, the door panels were a mess too. The paint cracked and faded to the point where you could see the previous color through it. Maybe the guy just did a bad job but he really ruined the interior. It was a convertible and was exposed to the sun all the time during the summer.
