500 shaker external amp? not conected to the head unit?
so i have a 05 gt with the 500 shaker and it sounds soo good but i have a alpine head unit that i want to install. my question is dose the 500 shaker have a amp that isent part of the shaker 500 head unit so when i hook up my alpine deck it sound sjust as good and loud.
It has separate amps for the subs only. the regular speakers are driven from the head unit itself. The sub amps also have a +5V turn-on signal, but most head units output 12V. If you're in that boat, you can buy a $1.50 voltage regulator from radio shack and splice it into the wiring harness you make for your head unit.
If you're going to install an aftermarket deck, pick up the PAC C2R-FRD1 wiring kit, as it includes everything you're going to need. Make sure you connect the blue/white wire from the deck to the blue/white wire from the FRD1 harness, and plug the green/purple RCAs into the sub-out from the deck.

The PAC harness is great for plug and play but is not nessasary. The standard metra harness works fine and saves money. The new HU will make a huge differance in the sound. I can FELL my door subs hitting now.
