ODB-II Reader and Software

There are good threads on OBD here:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/engi...agnostics-etc/

If I was going to get one it would be:
http://www.obdpros.com/

The software is free, but you have to pay for the scanner hardware. The free software only works with readers that use the open protocol. I think it's called ELM327?

I have an elmscan and a palmer performance tool on my car pc for odb2 and i must say it sucks. The soft is ok, you can somehow manage to customize it to match your front end. But for the rpm for example i can't manage to have more than 5 sample per second. So it's not accurate at all. And with delay. No use so for datalogging.

As i'm working on my home front end i'm planning to add the support of odb2 myself in the furutre.

The SCT software is about the same. The sample rate is not good enough to get nice realtime results.

What front end are you developing?

Here is a screen of the custom front end. I'm making this skinable so you can change the way it looks and functions.

That's incredibly impressive for $600... How much do you want to install one in my car?

... And how are you supposed to put CDs in that slot?

Thanks. $600 is just basic computer parts. Amps, speakers were extra.
Thinking about changing out the stock subs for Pioneer slims.

The CD slot on the front end is just for show.
Kinda like some hood scoops

The plan is to create a skin like the new nav unit.
Just have to find the time.
