Just purchased winter tires for the car that isn't even built yet 'cause I'm an optimist! They'll be mounted on a spare set of Bullitts that I've already bought (just can't bear to look at black steel wheels). Anyways, here's what I went with if anyone's looking to be able to keep their Pony's on the straight and narrow:

Michelin's new X-Ice comes in the same size as OEM 235/55 Nero's BUT I chose X-Ice 215/60/17's. Why??? Tire diameter is exactly the same @ 27.2" and the 215's are about 1" narrower. Not pretty but the slimmer the better for snow - and 3 or 4 months of ugly is better than a guardrail or a ditch. The Michelin spec's "recommend" a maximum 7.5" rim width but 1/2" ain't going to make a difference says my real life Michelin man.

Finally, if you're a winter driver and haven't used Blizzaks or similar (the X-Ice is supposed to be even better and my dealer sells both so no conflict there), you owe yourself the favour. Had them on my last 2 F150's during winter and they're incredible - almost like driving on dry pavement. Well worth the $$.

Just an FYI, Mark.

I've had Michelin X-ice 235/55R17 on my factory rims for months now. They work great

And here I was feeling all depressed about the ice AND the two extra feet of snow we got this past weekend when along comes a comedian. Do you guys in California have to move the seats back when you bundle up in extra thick t-shirts to drive in 66 degree weather?

Hotlap, I'm still laughing. GOOD ONE!!!
