I installed a blackout panel a few days ago. I ordered one off e-Bay, but screwed up the installation (don't ask). I went to the local sign shop and bought some more vinyl and it came out perfectly this time. I should have bought locally in the first place :bang: , he only charged me $5.00.

I'm waiting for MRT to come out with their side louvers, then I'll have my mirrors painted at the same time as the louvers. This shop also tints, so it'll be 3 mods at once! Hurry up MRT!!!!

Here's a close up of the rear, and a side/front view for good measure.

It breaks up the car...takes attention away from it's naturally beautiful lines and character. It screams..."look at me, look at me", when instead, one should be looking at the car as a whole.

The plastic...from the way the sun is shining on it...looks cheap, and as such does not flatter the car.

Hey, that's just me. But that's what we're here for, right? To debate alterations.

I think it looks great, as it is reminiscent of 69-70 Mach 1s with the blacked out tail panel. I also like the fact that it does break up the tail from the rest of the car and would match the front grille. However, you are right, in a way, because from some angles the plastic does look kinda cheap, but until someone makes a decent tail panel or honeycomb panel, then this is the only other option without resorting to painting the trunk. But this is just my opinion!

I respect your opinion, that's what I come here for! Personally, I think it adds to the overall look of the back. IMO, the back needs something to break it up. Not that it matters, but it's vinyl, not plastic. My bad for calling it a "panel"!

There is a case to be made for 'breaking' up the rather monotone rear end.

Of the very few criticisms I have of the basic styling of the car...I would have liked it if they had made the entire section encompassing the brake lights 'concave' rather than 'convex'...a la the classic 60's rear end.

Otherwise, the styling execution of our car is so close to perfection, that it's very hard to make the car look better with accessories...most 3rd party add-ons I've seen to date actually spoil the car IMHO.

Taking away from the lines is exactly what the rear end needs. That's one thing Ford screwed up on with the design. That rear end is HUGE! Very anti-mustang styling.
If I put one on mine, I'll be going with a less glossy vinyl.
