Question Who owns a Cervini's hood?

Couple of questions for you.......

1) How is the overall quality?

2) Did it require alot of prep work before painting?

3) How much did it cost to get it painted?

4) Can you use hood struts on their hoods?

Thanks.

Tom

Hey Tom,

I own a Cervini's Heat Extractor. The quality is very good, if not excellent. The prep work was typical but minimal. The cost to paint it at the Ford dealership was $116 outside, $56 underside, total was $172. I am not sure about hood struts, I heard its too light for it to work, but I never tried it.

Our Cervini's hood is great quality. The body guy was very pleased with it. He said the prep work was minimal. I can't say how much it cost to paint because we had the whole body kit/stripes done at once.

1. Overall quality is very good, but, at least in my experience, the Cervini hood is slightly shorter than the OEM hood, but you really have to look closely to detect this. Also, again, at least in my experience, the width is slighly smaller than OEM (e.g., the gaps between the fenders and the hood are slightly wider than stock).

2. The folks at my shop were impressed that for a fiberglass hood, it didn't take as much prep as they normally expected. Of course, it took a bit longer to prep given that I wanted to close off the front scoops.

3. $650 to prep/paint the hood, as well as blend the hood with the front fenders. Money well spent in my case.

4. I have MRT struts, and they do hold the hood up, but I am thinking about reattaching the prop for added peace of mind. In my conversations with the folks at Cervinis, they didn't specifically say that their hoods worked with the CDC/MRT type struts, but they did say that Redline type struts didn't seem to present a problem, so my assumption was that they would work with my type of struts as well. The hood is heavier than stock, so it is an open question about whether or not your particular hood will work with a particular set of struts.

5. My hood fits over the Strange STB no problems.

I have the cervinis B2 hood, and the quality was excellent with minimal work needed to get it perfect, overall very satisfied with quality, the other parts of the kit on the other hand left alot to be desired

Well maybe...... first I gotta decide which one I like the most. I went thru this with wheels last year- only took me about 9 months to finally decide and when I did, it was with the style that I wanted originally LOL.

Any other Cervini's owners? How was the leadtime on the order??

i was very pleased with all my cervini products. minimal prep and great fit. i am still using hood prop, but i dont like the way the hood twists when its on the prop. i am thinking about struts as well and i was going to call cervini's to see if they had any flex problems reported yet by strut users.

Cervini Type IV with heat extractors. Finish was good. Only 1 hr prep. time needed. $620 shipped Show quality painted on both sides with 3 coats of clear $600 bucks. Total $1220.
Was in stock at a sponsor's store so shipping time was less than a week. But if you are waiting for Cervinis to send you something don't hold your breath. It could take a month or more from them. Hood is very sturdy. Does not flop around at 100 plus MPH

By the time I saw the Cervini's 68 style hood with the heat extractors, they were no longer offered with the heat extractors. Still a nice hood, but without heat extractors.

I called Cervini's and they said there was a mold / production problem. That was a deal-breaker for me. Still searching for what I want...

I absolutely love mine. Its very sturdy...and matches really well to the rest of the car. I have heard that the struts will eventually push the back up the hood up and cause some warping...
