What's a good way to refinish a spoiler?

I have recently aquired (for free) a CDC chin spoiler for my 05 Mustang GT. It is Redfire....my car is black. Of course the spoiler is ABS plastic, so I didn't want to throw just any paint stripper on it, in case in would screw w/ the plastic. The paint is chipping off, but I don't think I'll get it all off picking at it w/ my fingernails.

So, what would be a good product or method to use to get the redfire off?

Also, do y'all think a matte black chin spoiler would look good on a black car, or should I just paint it good ole factory UA black?

Thanks!

No input on your paint issue but here's some pics of my car with the matte black CDC chin spoiler.

You might try plastic media blasting. It won't damage the spoiler but it will surely strip the paint off.Look in your automotive section under restoration in the yellow pages.

The matte black does look pretty good!! I still haven't decided. First though, I need to get the redfire paint OFF! So media blasting would probably work, but I don't have access to one. So is there not any type of chemical stripper safe to use on ABS plastic? Perhaps I should just bust out a RO sander and some varying grit paper??

try wet sanding till you get down past all the paint and then repaint it flat/matte black
