Vinyl Stripes peeling up!

is it normal for vinyl stripes to have some peeling up after there installed.around the back break light on the trunk lid the vinyl seems to keep bubbling up and staring to come off...i pulled up the vinyl to see how strong its bonded and it just comes up with ease like a piece of tape...

arent the installers supposed to use a solution that makes the stripes bond pretty strongly...how long does it take for the bond to occur, because its been a week now with my stripes installed but i can still pull them up easily.did my installer to a crap job or is this normal?!?!?

It sounds as if they did not adhere correctly. I would call the installer.

Mine peeled a bit at the front corner, but nothing too dramatic. Otherwise, everything else is good to go!

I had the same problem. Peeled them off and had them painted. It's the only solution.

Lots! Paint done right is anywhere from $1000-$3000.

Not Normal. Do Over. Should last 3 years and then fade due to UV, not peel.

Where did you get the stripes from? Sounds like a bad job, I did mine myself just a couple weeks ago and they were pretty much stuck in place the same day. Had them on since then with no bubbling at all, perfect.

Take them off easily while you still can. Hard to take off later. adhesive cleaner etc. vinyl sucks. I learned from mine crapping out after a year. I had them painted for 400 bucks, and the guy did an awesome job. You just got to find a good old boy that does work for cheap. If you live near st. louis let me know Ill give you his info.

i got them done by some guy in jersey city nj...they look good but around the fake gas cap theres a part thats not adhered, forming a triange shape around it...theres another crack over the front bumper and they didnt adhere that well underneath the spoiler...he wrapped the spoiler but on the bottom its not stuck very well and there are many triangular air pockets(im pretty sure u guys know what the heck im talking about)

anyway it looks good and only cost 300.im not that distraught but it does bother me,im always thinking there gonna fall off or someones gonna notice it and pull it up or something...i guess im gonna bring it back to the guy and show him

That about sums it up for paint. You can find it cheaper like Sodaman but don't shop all on price. Look for quality work first, then work on price. Ask to see some of their other work too.

Bring it back to the installer. A good bond with vinyl should hold plenty good and should fade before peal. Some use a solution (mix of soap and water) to help place the vinyl but not needed. Making sure the surface is clean of dirt, wax, and any other thing that may mess up the bond is key.

Painting is the way to go. Gonna go paint myself but may do vinyl for the short term (will do it myself).

If it's not dirty on the underside of the area that's peeled up, use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm it up and try to press it back down. If it doesn't work, go back to your installer and have that portion redone. It may be that the installer did not properly heat and set that area of the stripe...I know from experience that it is a trouble spot and needs to be properly set.
