Trufiber Hoods & Whipple S/C
Trufiber Hoods & Whipple S/C
Not sure if I read correctly somewhere on some mustang forums. can anyone confirm if there were any type of fitment issues with trufiber hoods and the intake box of the whipple supercharger? I'm shopping for a hood and I want to be sure I dont need to extensive modifications in order for the intake of the whipple to not hit the hood. i think a person said about 1 inch of the opening in the hood has to be cut or shaving of the one side of the intake with a grinder was needed.
anyone chime in on this?

Hey Mav, I have the Venom hood and I did have to modify my Whipple air box. I took off more than I needed. I can't remember how much I took off, seems like an inch to an inch and a half. I had my brother slowly lower the hood as I tried my best to see where the hood was going to hit the air box. I figured out how much I thought needed to come off and then marked where the cuts needed to be. I removed the box, used masking tape to mark what needed to be removed. I included pics. In the pics you will see the tape. Everything above the tape line was removed. I took it to a machine shop and they cut it with a plasma torch. Looked like it came from the factory that way.
See the lowered border around the square hole in the bottom of the hood, where the fresh air comes in.......this is what hits the airbox. That is a pic of the first hood Trufiber sent, but it is basically the same as the updated version that I just received as a replacement for the cracked hood.

They have several that do. They make this same hood for the stock GT front fascia.......it is functional w/ heat extractor vents as well. Check out trufiber's website. They are an authorized dealer on this site.
