Thumbs up Tri Pony Badges

I always wanted to do this.

$100.00 and 10 minutes later, poof, it's done.

More of a "classic" look I think.

The original GT and the new Tri Pony emblems are double back taped in place. I used a wood chisel and a paperback book to pry them off. There are indexing pins and corresponding holes in the fender and trunk lid.

Would I do it all over? Yeah.

Does anybody really care? Probably not.

Rock on...

wow you payed 100 for yours? man that is qutie a bit. I got mines for $10 from an autoshow. Mind you they were not the ford ones, but I actually like the ones I got better they have more of a classic look to them and they are actually chrome metal rather than plastic like the ford ones.

Ahhhhhh.................. Ten bucks! You didn't really have to tell me that. You want to come over and kick me in the nads? Just kidding with you man.

Yeah, they were ~$23 each for the fender emblems and ~$52 for the gas cap. I got them from the dealer. It was kind of an impulse buy. I guess that's what I get... I still like them.

I think they look good but I am still partial to the GT badge. It's basically the only thing that distinguishes my car from the V6. But I do really like how the pony badges look and have considered it myself.

Yeah I was just saying I personally perferred mines to the fords ones, but I like yours too they look great man. I will be posting some photos of all my mods in the near future once its all cleaned up. CDC chin spoiler, cali dream hood, DG custom louvers. Drop and wheels to come soon, and ofcrouse a whipple. I am also considering agent 47 mirrors. Sorry to threadjack

I also swapped the "GT" for the tribar pony on the fenders Mostly due to having the "GT/A" emblem right below. I love the look!

I'll swap the GT-Logo for a 68 "Mustang" Vintage-Logo next week.

Thought about the Tri-Bar-Pony in chrome but its quite large and I voted against it. Bought a new trunk logo which is at an airbrush-shop at the moment:

Final solution is coming soon.

I have a mustang logo just sitting around also. I can't decide what to do with it. Any input? I was thinking either under my tri-bar ponies, on the trunk lid, or on my passenger side console.

I guess I feel otherwise...I always thought the "GT" emblems were badges of honor signifying the higher horsepower model and that the "Tri-Pony" emblems were relegated to the less powerful V6s...my "GT" emblems will remain as they are "straight from the factory."

If you measure against the classic Mustang GT then just having the GT badge on the fenders in place of the tri-bar pony is authentic and correct the GT.

However there is some mismatches of classic authentic details model by model on the new Mustangs...

The Pony package on the new Mustang V6 consists mostly of all the classic Mustang GT's styling details including the grille with the corraled pony and horizontal chrome bar with small round fog lamps on each end and rocker stripes.

The new GT's wears none of the authentic styling detail of any classic Mustang GT but instead has no rocker stripes and uses a rear wing style that was only on classic Mach1's and Bosses. The grille of the new GT looks mostly like the 1969 Mustang with large lamps flanking the ends of a large black grille with no chrome detail. The optional hood scoop on the new GT is a 1965-66 Shelby style. GT's did not have a hood scoop until 1969 and it was a different style...

The GT was discontinued after 1969 while the Mach 1 and Boss models took dominance... However Ford does not seem to be making room for classically popular Mach 1's and Boss models to exist.

1965 GT

1967 GT

1969 GT

Thanks! I figured out that it will become difficult to attach only the '68 Mustang letters because of these **** GT-Logo fitting holes in the fender. So I decided to put on the Tri-Bar Pony. Know I really like it and will leave the letters away. Here are some pics:

I bought them here:
