Hey guys,

just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the taped-on hood scoops coming loose in a strong wind or anything like that. I really like my Xenon scoop, but talked to someone who said that his scoop had flown off once in a strong headwind. He didn't say what brand it was and he did say it was many years ago. Maybe the bonding technology wasn't as good yet?

I have a Roush hood scoop and it is taped and bolted on. Most of the hood scoops I thought had bolts for you to bolt them down with.

The Xenon scoop just has the double tape. NO issues so far but wondering if anyone else has had any. So you drilled holes in your hood for the Roush?

I believe my Roush scoop has about 8 to 10 screws and double sided sticky tape holding it down. Every once in a while when a big rig goes by me on the other side of a 2 lane highway I can see the scoop move up. I'm pretty sure if it was just sticky taped on it would be lying out in a field somewhere.

Yes holes were drilled in the hood for the Roush scoop. I'm with GRAYPNY, I don't think that just the double sided tape would hold very well.

My roush scoop is fine but I did drill the seven holes in my hood to help the tape.

hmmmm, I would hate for this thing to come off.

Maybe I'll cough up for the Roush scoop. I like that fact that it bolts down.

Local body shop has had a Mustang come back 3 times that had the Xenon scoop. Even with adhesion promoter it would come loose. They finally used epoxy so now it is permanent.

I had the Xenon hood scoop..........It took flight at 80 mph and became roadkill.......I'm currently making a clock out of it.

hmmm, well, good thing I ordered the Roush! I never did feel too confident about the sticky tape. Seems to be ok on louvers, but with the wind gusts that a scoop takes on, guess it's just a matter of time!

What are the possibilities of reselling a "removed" hood scoop?
