For those of you with the GT/CS rear bumper cover...

I just got off the phone with my dealership this morning, and they told me that it would be approximately $1,200 for the GT/CS rear bumper, painted, installed -- the whole nine yards. I thought $1,200 sounded awfully expensive, but I figured I'd ask some of you guys that have done the conversion before I told them where to stick it (ha ha)!

Thanks in advance.

That's rediculous!!!!! I paid about $600 for both the front and rear covers and all the hardware total!! It might be a little more but talk to KC and see what he can do for ya...

You need to use the accessory part numbers. I got mine for well under $600 but keep in mind these are production parts, and everyone is buying them at this time as well.

I think I paid less than $200 for the rear bumper cover and about the same amount for paint. In terms of installation I did it myself, in my garage, one day before leaving for work. It took 2 or 3 hours to do but it really was pretty straight forward an installation. Maybe its me but an $800 premium for the dealer to install it is a bit much!

Thanks a lot, guys, for your quick, informative responses! Either way, I wasn't going to pay that much for the conversion.

I paid $180 for the parts (Thanks Kevin) and $400 for paint (probably higher than it could have been, but I really like this guys' work), and installed it myself.

I know prices have gone up since I got mine, but you could still do it for roughly $5-600 I would think.

In the Ford Accessories Cataloge, the base # for the CS fascia kits is 20049. They list the #'s right in the middle off the part #.I ordered from this site and its a good #.

ordered the gt500 bumper from my ford dealership and received the cs special, they did'nt know the difference. and that would be the entire bottom of the shelby is black, the cs is black on the diffuser. this comes into play when you get it painted.

No, it doesn't say it, but it IS the bumper.

Just have it painted. There has been TONS of discussion regarding the differences between the two with respect to texture. It's really a non-issue. THe fundamental difference as you mentioned is that only on the splitter area on the GT/CS cover is black vs. black all the way around on the GT500. You can have the GT/CS cover painted black on the bottom for less than the cost differential between the GT500 cover and the "accessory" GT/CS cover.

Question for you folks, when you changed the rear bumper cover have the repainted to cover only or do they had to blend paint on the rear fender ?

Mine is a Mineral Grey and it seems to be a hard color to match ?

Just have the cover painted. There's enough of a change in plane between the cover and the quarters that you'll you wouldn't notice the difference.
