Question Those who have the 3D Carbon Side Scoops...

I just got a pair of the 3D Carbon side scoops for my Mustang and was reading the directions for install and it says to wipe down the area you are planning to apply the scoop to with lacquer thinner... This seems a bit much to me... I know you need to strip off the wax to get a good adhesion, but couldn't I just wipe it down with some Dawn soapy water and clay bar it to get the same results? The lacquer thinner seems a bit harsh to me... But I'll do it if that's the best way!

How did you all install your scoops? I want to make sure I do it right so they don't go flying off the car on the Freeway at 70 MPH!

Thanks in advance!

I have the pony vents from 3DC and I used alcohol prep and never had an issue. How much have you waxed the area? I would consider this beforehand.

I have only had the car since March, so all I have done is claybar the car and put on 2 coats of Meguiars NXT... And that was back in either late March or early April, I don't remember exactly when I finally got to it...

Rubbing alcohol will work just as well. If you don't properly prep the surface your scoops will have a good chance of flying off.
