stripes on black vert - check these out
hi
I have a blk/red '05 GT 'vert. Want to stripe it, but thinking of doing something a bit different from the normal twin-stripes up the middle.
I saw a few Mustangs with a single offset stripe, liked it so figure that's the way I'll go. Just an idea. For laughs, I got my friend to Photoshop these onto my car.
just figured you folks might like to see them, particularly if you have a black stang.
I'm trying to decide between red and silver I think (white's good, but a bit stark). I always thought red would be good to match the interior, but in vinyl red seems to always come out looking bad IMO. So I'm leaning towards silver, perhaps a slightly wider main stripe than in these images.
let me know what you think

but to each his own. do what you like, man.
here is a good red:

but with a billet grille, i would definately choose silver, gold, alloy, or tungsten. not red
good luck
Well, that's certainly different. Some 1964 Indy Pace Car Mustangs got a much thinner stripe, also offset, but to the driver's side. It was a dealer mistake, but you see alot of pictures of those cars with the stripe aligned with the driver instead of down the middle. Doing it on the driver's side just seems more logical if you're going to do that, but there aren't any rules. Do what you like. Please don't go with the blue or yellow stripe, however. That really clashes with your interior. Red or silver (maybe dark silver) is much better. You gonna match it with some rocker stripes?
Please don't. It reminds me of half of the Cavaliers I see around here and at shows. There's plenty of stripe options available. I mean, do what you like, but imho, that looks completely out of place and does not fit a Mustang at all.
LOL about the Cavalier comment, that is exactly what I thought too. I agree with the rest of your post as well.....
Do what you want, its your car- but don't get mad if you get laughed at too LOL! I just can't see that on a Mustang, but that's just IMO.
I've read that the single stripe is always put on the driver's side of the car. This dates back to racing so that if the vehicle was in a wreck, they knew which side of the car the driver was on. Probably Le Mans racing if you think about it. I don't know if it's fact, but that's what I've read.

PS, I would vote against this on the Mustang, doesn't quite look right.

Wow!
that is different, I say go red with your interior, if you go with that style of stripe. I think that style would have to grow on me, I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to stripes, It's just my opinion but the one stripe looks kinda girlie, Sorry! but you asked, you do what you want, I was told not to stripe mine, but after I did got nothing but looks and compliments.
wow indeed. I was hoping to just get some thoughts on my actual question of red vs silver or white (thanks to the couple of you that actually did offer an opinion, appreciate it). Obviously I wouldn't really consider blue or yellow on this car, that was just a bit of fun
I guess 'Making your '05 stand out from the crowd' as this section says is fine unless it's actually original
btw If you do a bit of research you'll see there have been stripes like this (offset, on either driver or passengers side) on American cars for a long time, including hardcore racing Mustangs - including ones shown in the official stripes thread on this very forum. Shelby-style is only one (very common) option, and I don't pretend my car is a Shelby.
apologies for questioning the standard way of doing things - I'll keep my ideas to myself. You guys have a nice day.

Just curious, thanks
Be careful what you ask for, especially in the matter of opinions. Not everyone is gonna like the look no matter what it is. Do something that makes you happy. Driver side stripe, passenger side stripe, le mans, super snake, whatever. Just make sure it's something you will like a year or two from now.

Sometimes trying to be different is not good!!.......
