Stripes?
I think it is all in the color. I like the more subtle, so I love ghost/shadow stripes (tungsten/silver, black/silver, LL/white, etc.). Some combinations I really like, though are just a bit too much for my daily driver (e.g. blue/white). Some don't look quite right to me (e.g. red/black) and some just look bad to me (red/gold).
It is all in the eye of the beholder though.
Coupe or vert doesn't matter to me -- both look good if done right.

I like them but, I don't want them. I feel like a Cop magnet now!

One thing to be careful of... if it's the dealer adding the stripes, make sure it's what you want, and not the skinny stripe dealer option. If they're painting them (which they'd better be for $1200) I'd suggest going down the bumpers too instead of just the hood and deck lid.
good choice on the color for stripes.... I dig that combo.... I think that Dark Shadow Grey would look good as well.

I voted for Coupe only. Although I have seen a couple striped verts that look 'ok', I much prefer them on the coupe. Since racing stripes imply just that... racing, it's almost silly to put them on a vert, being so non-aerodynamic and just not designed to race.
As far as getting negative attention from cops by having stripes... I have not experienced that at all. 9 out of 10 cops I drive by usually stare at my car with their mouths wide open. All I have gotten is positive attention from cops. In my case, it gives me even more freedom than if I had no stripes at all. I have had a few cops stop to ask me about the car in parking lots... one even followed me for over a mile into a parking lot to see the car up close. I even had a state trooper pull up next to me at a light, hit the siren so I rolled down my window, and told me to peel off when it turned green because he wanted to see what she could do. Cops are car guys. They drive in a car all day... and at least around here it's a Crown Vic, so they have a bit of Ford pride there.
