Stock 17s on Front, 18 DD on Rear?

I am thinking on running the stock 17in bullitts up front and running 18in out back.

After purchasing CS front and rear fascias, CS side scoops, Hurst Shifter, Shelby black upper and lower billet grilles, GTA exhaust, and CDC shaker................I am running out of money. Wow, once you catch the mod addiction........it's hard to stop. Actually, I have to start curtailing the spending, because I am putting up a second garage for shop space (30x40) and my fiance' wants to do a little makeover on several of the rooms in the house.

Anyway, I still want to do something with wheels/tires. I have the stock 17in bullitts and I really like the bullitt look, but I would like a little more meat on the back. Here is what I am thinking on doing, my current wheels are silver and I would paint those gloss black. This would be very economical for me because I do all my own paint work and I have plenty of black paint (I have 3 vehicles - all the same paint code). I was then thinking about purchasing the gloss black 18x9 deep dish bullitts from American Muscle and running 255/45/18's on the rear. This size would be a little beefier and the diameter is virtually the same as stock. The deep dish, I believe, would also give the visual of more meat out back? This would give me a staggered look that I like and I would have 2 spare wheels and tires, if ever needed. I would probably remove the TPMS sensors and try the PVC tube trick that I have read about on several forums. Going this route would cost less than half that of purchasing all new wheels/tires/sensor bands and it would allow me to upgrade later if I wanted to go 18's all around.

Plans for car:
My car is black and I plan on going with Matte black stripes (10" wide, 1-1/2 - 2" gap, 3/8" pinstripe). I originally was looking at tape from BSM because I thought they would be easier to maintain, but after a little investigation, I believe it will be much easier for me to tape them off and paint them myself. This car is pretty much a DD that I split time with my truck. I do not plan on any type of track stuff. I am just trying to create a look that I like.

Opinions wanted:
How do you think this will look and work with this wheel/tire combo? Is there a downside to running 2 different size wheels, I would think as long as the diameter of the tires are the same.....it would be OK? Has anyone out there done this? Pics?

Thanks

2 guys here run black bullitts, 17's up front w/ 18 DD's in the rear. Hawgman and Airgonymk... or something like that. Look up their posts and you'll find some pics. Airgonymk's car is black too.

Thanks,

I looked up hawgman's car.....looks good. He seems to be running a much larger diameter tire on the rear? I couldn't find a pic of Airgonymk's setup. I am wondering how it looks with a stock diameter tire on the rear.......seeing that it will have less sidewall as compared to the front. This seems like an economical route for staggered bullitts, I'm surprised no one else has done it.......at least I am having a hard time finding pics?

No, I was going to do it too. They're the only 2 I know of that have done that. I wanted to go 18's and 19's, or 19's and 20's... but nobody makes a 19" Bullett. Let me look and see if I can find that other guys car...

Thanks for the pic.......looks amazing to me, I like the staggered look with the deep dish on the back only...looks old school. I think this is the route I am going.

Glad you like it...everyone that sees it loves the look. I have to thank Hawgman though as I copied his setup.

What size tires are you running in the pic and do you have any pics more from the side. I do like it, I think this pic sealed the deal on what direction I am going. Now all I have to do is decide on a tire. I looked at matching the fronts with 255/45/zr18 PZERO's because I will have (4, 2 spares to use up) of those to use for the front. I also don't know if it would be good to mix tire brands? Any thoughts?

Thanks

Tire sizes

I'm running 235 45 ZR 17's in the front and 285 35 ZR 18's in the rear...again they are Nitto 555 Extremes. DO NOT DRIVE THESE IN THE SNOW!!! I got the rear wheels at American Muscle they are 18x9's. I think the Hawgman is running 18x10's so his may be more "old school" than mine is. Good luck and enjoy the Mustang!

Thanks, 18x9's from AM are exactly what I am looking at. I think I will stick with the PZero Nero M&S 255/45/18's for the rear for now and maybe upgrade to to a little more tire when this set wears out.
