ok Ive been asking around and no one seems to have a definite answer.

does anyone here have a staggered set of wheels on their s197?

Im looking to go with 18s up front and 19s in the back and most likely run a taller sidewall on the rear as well for a more old skool look.

if anyone has tried this, did you run into any problems? with the comp? did it effect abs? anything else?

I don't know but I can see how it might affect the ABS since the computer would see the rear tires spinning slower than the fronts. You'd also have to remember to calibrate the computer (for the speedometer, odo, etc) based on the rear tire size.

That is a good point. I recently put the rear of my car up on jack stands to check the rear wheels for being out of round. I put it in 5th and let it idle while I got out to look at the wheels. They were fine, but when I got back in the car, the message center said "check traction contol". Even when I got the car back on the ground and went for a drive it was there. It took about a minute of driving and the message center beeping before the error went away. I guess the car figured out everything is fine. I would imagine different OD tires would have a similar effect.

Mind you, my new tires are not exactly the same OD, one is a 295/30/R20 and the other is 245/35/R20 and I have no issues.

this is why I am posting to see if anyone knows for sure, Ive talked to several shops and they can only guess as to what may or may not happen since they havent tried it themselves. I know that A47s S197 has a way larger profile tire in the rear and they said they havent had any issues.

No issue here either.I run the same set up as MTAS.The rear tires are around 28.5" tall,the fronts..26.8.,wheels are 18x9 and 18x10's.

There's a dude on modfords.com that runs this.....I can't think of his username (sorry!) but I know he has said he as no problems. I wanted to run 18s up front and 20s in the rear but found 18"s look pretty good IMO once you're lowered. 20s would be too much (both size and weight) for what I want in my car.

for now it looks as though I am gonna go with just 18s all around and then maybe change them again later to the DPEs I want, unless someone wants to buy the Bozes Im gonna put on before I do so.....18x9 and 18x10 currently brushed finish but gonna paint the center black and polish the lip

Nice wheel! You may as well stuff the 19's on the rear,it'll cost you more later...in the rear.
I just changed out to wider rims and it wasn't cheap.

well these Im picking up on a deal because they were already made for a S197 who backed out last minute. These are still very nice and expensive wheels, and the DPEs to get them custom made will take 6-8weeks so Ill run these for now and if I ever change them then I can sell them then.

but I tell you what, if you want to see the staggered real bad, you can buy these off of me and I will order the others....lol.

im soon getting 19x8.5 and 19x10 Axis Hiro.

they weight about 27 lbs each and have proper clearance for BIG 14" brakes.

i'm soon selling my 20" wheels i got from tirerack. they have no big brake clearance and they are WAY too rough for my NYC streets. i need that extra 3/4" rubber sidewall

I'll tell you what - if you can find a set of 19" Bullitts let me know and I may be the guinea pig. I either want to go 18 and 19 or 19 and 20. I can find 18's and 20's, but no 19's.

Have you seen the price of 19" tires. They are more than 18s and 20s. 19 is a odd size 18 and 20 is way more common, thus the price difference. I originally wanted 19", but 20" was cheaper.

Yeah, I am quite aware - You can get Kumho SPT 285/35zr19s for 165 a piece...pllus $20 for M/B

Never heard of a 19 inch bullitt and Ive searched high and low haha...

Your best bet is to search for a custom wheel manufacturer and see if you can't get something custom made- but I would think it would be VERY pricey
