On one hand I love the shaker hood scoop, on the other I love the way white stripes will contrast with my Sonic Blue GT scheduled to be built next week (May 31). In my opinion, a shaker scoop needs black on the hood (in some way) to "ground" it. Otherwise it just seems to be floating out there on the hood. But black on the hood will in no way go with white rocker stripes. :nono: A friend offered this suggestion: How about a '70 style Mach 1 hood stripe (center wide stripe with a narrower stripe on both sides, wrapping around the back of the shaker scoop) in silver? GT300 rocker stripes in silver, and the shaker scoop painted in silver to match? Silver will contrast with the Sonic Blue better than black, and I still get the scoop. I've seen a shaker painted to match white stripes, and it looked horrible, but how about the silver? Or even a Tungsten? Or sandblast the aluminum shaker and clearcoat? With "281" cut out of the narrow stripe on each side? Your opinions are welcome and most appreciated. Thanks

Are you planning on doing le mans stripes as well (if it weren't for the shaker)? I honestly don't think the black shaker would be that bad -- in fact, it might look pretty good, in an old-school sort of way. Not a "Mustang" tradition, but that doesn't mean it would be bad.

I am not sure if I like the idea of a silver shaker scoop. I like things very clean, and with all the ridges and stuff in the shaker, it would be emphasized in silver.

I would get a photochopper to do up some options to get an idea (I am too busy right now).

Just my $0.02

I have a Sonic on order too... And I had the same idea about painting the shaker, although I was going with white stripes - perhaps like the 70 Mach.

I suppose it can always be painted black again...

Thanks for the opinions. I am having trouble picturing the shaker as anything but black. I am pretty sure a bright silver would look too bling, so I am thinking something toned down a bit, like the old "argent" Ford used to use. Maybe even try to match the bullits? If I had ordered a color other than Sonic Blue, I wouldn't have this problem, but at the time I wasn't interested in a Boss or Mach 1 look. I was intending to go with a Shelby look. It's that shaker hood scoop that keeps making me have second thoughts. Thanks again.

Wow. That does give me something to think about. It looks much better than the other photo that I saw. It is exactly what I had in mind. My indecisiveness is driving me nuts. I may just end up driving the car bone stock for awhile and wait for new parts to come out and me to make a decision. I've got money set aside for mods, though, and I don't want that money to evaporate on some other expense. Thanks!

I am sort of in the same boat - I have several different mods that I like, but it is hard to choose.

So I am thinking about just driving it stock for a while and see what comes out in the next few months. Of course, I have to get the darn car first!!!

But the white shake and tri-stripes do look good...

At one time I was going to get the shaker and if I did I was going to paint it so it matched my stripes. I don't think it would look that bad.

I really like the first one you did for me - and I may take you up on another one...

OK - how about putting the white shaker on the two-stripe car...

What about dual silver stripes - not as much contrast, but maybe thats a good thing seeing that you break up the hood with the shaker?

Well is it just me, but did he say sandblast the aluminum shaker, I thought the shaker system is actually plastic molded of some kind. But I am not sure, so wanted someone to clarify if the shaker hood system, etc is molded plastic or aluminum. Thanks to anyone who knows.

The ones I have seen are either a die cast zinc or aluminum. But there is nothing stopping anyone from making an injection molded plastic one...

I thought the originals were aluminum. Maybe I shouldn't assume that the newer ones are? Seems like I read it somewhere, but now that I think of it, I can't say for sure. If the intake manifold can be plastic, why not the scoop? Even if it was aluminum, stripping and clearcoating was just a thought. It'd probably be too bling to look right, especially against Sonic Blue. A duller "argent" or "anthracite" might look better? Thanks for the thoughts, guys. I still can't decide, but I could have much worse problems to deal with, huh?
