The red car is mine & they are indeed the Moss 'Slotted Taillight Bezels'
As bought , they are a glossy black, mouded a dark, smoke color with a high gloss exterior finish.
I had painted mine with a satin black finish to go with the other accents.
Photo prior to painting Satin Black.

I'm planning on doing a slight variation of this mod, but would like the advice/opinions before I attempt it. Instead of painting the trim, would it be possible to use some sort of black silicone to fill-in around the lenses? Then one could have the flush-mounted look. Also, what are your thoughts regarding painting the horizontal line just above the reverse light (but all the way across the lens)? I've never seen this done, and I don't know if it's never been thought of or if it just wouldn't look right. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions!!

I was thinking it would be easy to do with black silicone, funny I thought of the same silicone idea.

I have a lead on an extra set of tail lights, so I will let you know how they turn out once I have time to finish it.
