Thumbs up

I really would like to get the side mirrors painted. The body shop at my dealer really doesn't want to paint them because he feels it'll just peele or chip easily. Some here have mentioned certain primers or additives.
In looking at some of the SEMA pics, it doesn't look like the aftermarket companies are using the production side mirrors. If you look at the upper half of the stock mirrors, there is somewhat of an inlay or it is recessed a bit. It looks like Steeda has painted this part, but still doesn't look like the stock mirror. So...the question is, what mirror might they be using or am I just wacked?

EDIT: okay, I'm wacked! In reviewing the pics again, it appears that most used the stock mirror, while some appear to be different.

The stock mirrors have that recessed part in them that is painted. If you body shop preps them correctly the paint should stick forever.

My guess is that he was afraid that it would chip or flake and I would be bringing it back repetitively for him to fix.
