Wow. Did not know that!

Some would not want the weight of another set of electric motors and hardware to make it work.... Oops, having a speed racer moment. Nevermind.

Matching colors is by far the best. Even my little corolla has the same color mirrors and I put on a whole bunch of miles in a year on that and the mirrors look a whole lot better than the front hood which has taken a beating with rocks and such. Those are the little extras that you like to see a company put in a product and I think that most consumers would be willing to pay for. Lets not leave everything to the aftermarket. JMO.

If they are color coded then when they are damaged they either have to be painted to match or have a paintable removable cover that could ordered! It's Much more Cost effective and makes it easier to supply mirrors when they are all black! I can't see Ford Making all the different colors available as a service Part it would not be Cost effective!

I Have to Throw My Own Two Cents In on this Topic. I personaly Do Not Mind them the way they are, but I Want to have Color Inserts In the Top, Recessed Half of the Mirror. And I Think that Having the Whole Mirror Painted Looks Like Crap! Let me tell you Why.

I really do like Painted Mirrors, but they did something with the 05 that I wish they hadn't, in reguards to the Mirrors. The Black Plastic Trim that runs Over the Top of the Windows is the Same Pebble Texture as the Stock Mirrors, but When Ford Designed this Trim Over the Windows, They made it Seperate the Mirror Housing From the Painted Windshield Pillar. So Painting the Whole Mirror Gives you this Black Strip Running Between the Mirror, and the Windshield Pillar, which to me Ruins the Look of the Car.

To me the Only Way that Painting the Entire Mirror would Look Good, is if it Butted Up Flush with the Windshield Pillar. So having a Painted Insert at the Top of the Mirror, which I Believe Ford has in Store for a Future Model, Due to the Recessed Area at the top of the Stock Mirror Is a Perfect Way to Resolve this issue. In my opinion. But If it makes you Happy to Paint the Whole thing Go For It!

I think painting them body color or at least with body colored accents would be classy. I guess it would cost a lot more to incorporate that change. I'm just amazed that the mirrors aren't heated. They're so friggin huge, I figured they would have had the room to build in heating elements. And another thing, why aren't they articulated so they can fold in? That would reduce concerns about scratching them in tight spaces, wouldn't it? Just a thought...

I would like to get the indented part of the mirror body painted the car color and leave the rest black.

Painted mirrors look like dumbo ears! The black mirrors blend in with the windows if you're looking at the car from an angle. Notice how the painted mirrors seem to stick out awkwardly.

I think the mustang mirrors are "dumbo" mirrors any way you look at it and NO color is going to make them smaller...
Nice job painting them though 05satinGT looks GREAT!
