Side Mirrors
I think the side mirrors are just about the most scratched-up piece of a car. I'm always accidentally bumping into other people's side mirrors while walking through a parking lot, and I know I do it on my cars. The plastic hides scuffs much better than a painted surface would, and they don't look that awful. I'd rather have a worse-looking plastic housing than a good-looking painted one that will get scratched.

I think if painted mirrors were THAT much of a problem and so many people are paranoid, most car companies would just make em' black.
Considering the SVT Cobra has color keyed mirrors, I think you're kidding yourselves -- they're black plastic only because it's a cheaper trim level.
Do you think if Mercedes and BMW had so many issues with "scratched mirrors" they would continue the color keyed mirrors? I don't. So what was the question here again?

Hey, has any one ever saw or heard about retracting mirrors?
Just think...The mirror retracts into the door when you turn the car off. When you start it they come back out. You could have a locking switch to keep them in the down or out setting as well.
I think that would be one cool mod. Beats gull wings any day.

I think the GT's should have painted mirrors that match body color, since the rocker moulding is also painted on the GT...... and the V-6 should have the flat black that they are now to match the rocker moulding.
Just my opinion

The right hand drive Taurus models sold in Japan and South Asia had them.
If an RHD Mustang version is ever sold in Japan (not likely), it would have to have them.
