SHR Please make this!!!!

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...IC_470_JPG.htm

Make something similar to those light surrounds. Only make them match your honeycomb panel. That would look so Bada$$$.

Anyone else agree?

Looks like CDC should make that since it appears to be their blackout panel.

I would like to see some kit that enabled us to make the currently '69-'70 styled tail-lights look more like those of the earlier Mustangs ('65-'66 or preferably '67-'68). This would do nicely, I think.

I saw that piece today - felt it and took a picture of it, but it felt like real aluminum in a one-off, not some production piece. I don't know how we could make it work, since we didn't make the original honeycomb deep enough to be able to cover like that...

All said though, it did catch my eye, and is something I'll do some more homework on. No promises or anything, but like I said, even I took a picture of that.

While I agree, Retrobuilt is doing some cool things with that car, and the others they're working on, I don't think this works without the Saleen (or similar) bumper. The lights and panel would have to stick out past the bumper and wouldn't look right. However, it could be accomplished with replacement taillights instead. You could pull the lenses of the lights back into the car a little bit, and have some kind of honeycomb overlay on top, to match up with the existing SHR panel. Hopefully that made sense.

Yikes, not a fan, looks VERY tacked-on IMO.

I'm not saying the one in the pic looks amazing. I just think the idea of making the taillights look retro would be cool. Plus I'm sure it would look 10000 times better if SHR makes it.

In four words. Good Idea, Bad Execution.

I like how it makes those huge taillights look more proportional to the car, but the gaps for the trunk kinda ruin the look for me. It reminds me of the 67 GTA rear panel:

Retrobuilt is good with that. Good ideas and bad execution. They've been posting several of their concepts on Stangnet for our criticism. They've got some great ideas, but sometimes the execution isn't there. But if they listen to us, they might churn out some pretty cool stuff.

Only problem is the area around them has been bumped out but with out those decklid, and side parts those covers would probably sitck out past the regular tail lights thus making the car look odd from the side. I could be wrong but thats the impression I get from that pic.

Good point. Is what we're seeing in the pic an outright replacement for the stock tail-lights or just a piece that covers them? I would think that removing the existing lights and replacing them with something along the lines of what's in the pic might reduce or eliminate any protrusion as it wouldn't actually stick out any (or much) further than the stock lights did (which would now be gone).

I don't think the trunk lid gap would bother me too much. I would love to see what it'd look like in black or dark charcoal. Maybe even put chrome or brushed aluminum surrounds around each lens, although that might be a little too retro for some folks.

Go to retrobuilt.com to see the finished RSC-500, let me know what you think. The entire back of the regular GT car is being redesigned, no more saleenish look...Thanks, tony

I see the RSC-GT, but not the 500? Looks much improved, though. Thanks for listening, Tony.

Hey Tony,

The retrobuilt looks great! Is there an article that shows the build progress?

I think it would look cool with a wood grain dash.

Very nice, though I could see why it wouldn't appeal to everyone. I'd like to see what the RSC Bullitt looks like...

I think if the front fascia was lower it'd look better. I wouldn't do that to my GT500, but I do like some aspects of it. I'd like to see a '67 style tail light as opposed to the '68 style and I'd like it even more if they all lit up.
