Not functional other than to cover the engine compartment and hold water when it rains.

It's fiberglass. I have no idea of the weight. Might check the Shelby website for shipping weights.

As for making it functional, the lip is solid with a black plastic piece that has to be ordered and applied separately. You could attempt to cut the vertical surface out, but I would think you would need some way to reinforce the hood. After that you could insert some type of wire mesh (which the plastic piece is supposed to represent). I'll see if I have a better pic of the hood.

Here's a pic I posted before of the water issue, but it also shows the black plastic insert that I was indicating that could be cut out. The problem is, I don't know if it is too far forward to do much good for the engine. You might want to think about modifying the rear of the hood instead of the front lip.

Here's a better pic of the rear. Let me know and I can send a very high resolution of this pic via email to you so you can study the details (and see how the parts are applied etc.). Lots of plastic on the rear....

Here's another shot from the driver's position. Again, I have a much higher resolution pic if you want to see more details.

I was referring to the plastic around the windshield wiper motors. If that could be smoothed down or reduced, you might get a cowl induction hood out of the CS6...just a thought...

email on the way - if it bounces let me know. Pic sizes combined are around 10MB.

Yahoo just crapped out on the upload, I'll try sending two separate emails. The plastic is part of the mustang cowl. The black plastic add-on piece towards the front has to be ordered separately from the hood. It looks to be pop riveted on.

When the Shelby GT-H went to production, Ford specifically requested that the single layer fiberglass CS6 hood is to have another supporting layer added to the underside.
so shelby made a mold of the original hood and used that

as a result, making the hood functional is no longer that simple
even Shelby themselves told me i could cut open the grille area and make it functional and good looking, but the underside will take so much work to make it look right.

my hood needed a lot of prep work to get it right, as it arrived broken in two areas during shipping
and i re-inforced the edges where both fiberglass layers meet

i'll attach some pictures that show the high cowl end and other angles of the hood

check out the full job photo blog
and a video of the finished project to get a better idea on the fit of the hood

I love this hood but thought it wouldn;t work with a blower. Anyone know if you can have a Kenne Bell with this hood.

Doesn't fit with a Roush, Kenne Bell I have no idea. It is approx. a quarter in thicker on the underside then the stock hood and didn't clear mine by maybe half that. I had the center modified to fit.

There shouldn't be an issue with front mounted SC's such as a Paxton or Vortech.

I really love this hood but I have to find a non expensive way to make it functional before I buy it otherwise I just don't have any desire to own it. Everyone I have talked to said it was possible but it would be VERY expensive and would not even be very functional at all. I realize the vast majority of hood's are not really functional these days but none theless If it isn't atleast mildly functional to me it seems like a waste of money. If anyone comes up with an idea to fix this hood do tell me It would be appreciated because I really do like the design.
