Just wondering if anyone has been told sequential turnsignals are illegal and if so what state.

Some states have rediculas laws just wanted to see what states have outlawed this mod

I doubt very seriously any state would consider these illegal. If that were true, owners of classic T-Birds and Cougars would be getting ticketed all the time.

Any car that violates a law that was put into place after the car was built generally gets grandfathered in.
That being said, don't see how sequentials could possibly violate any law. Best thing to do is contact your local DMV.

If your DMVs are anything like my local DMVs, good luck!

Step one: Find someone actually willing to talk to you.
Step two: Find someone that will talk to you that actually has a clue.
Step three: Oh. Wait. You never made it past step two. Or step one on a bad day...

You sir, have a keen understanding of the way the universe functions (or in this case doesn't function)

Try email. They're usually responsive enough within a few days around here.

I would Think Webelectric would have a Disclaimer if this were an Issue.

Boy we have it easy. In Alabama there isn't any vehicle inspections. Of course, we also have a lot of rolling wrecks on the streets, too. Have seen guys driving with their heads clear out their side window because the windshield is totally shattered. But back on the point, I have had sequentials for the past six years and feel that anything that draws attention to my car when I am braking or turning is a positive safety feature. Also, because the sequentials use all three bulbs for braking, the brake lights are 30% brighter than stock, another good thing.

For those in Ontario, my 05 just breezed through it's out-of-province safety inspection with sequential lights blazing!

I was stopped by a State Trooper in Kentucky yesterday. I had my hazard lights on while I was stopped, and he didn't make any remarks about them, although I did get a few compliments about the car. Got lucky, just a Courtesy Warning & a Merry Christmas.

We don't have vehicle inspections here anymore however. Perhaps checking with the Department of Transportation, you could probably find some info. I think the sellers of these convertors would probably advertise that they were for off-road use only if they thought that they may be illegal though.

I have not heard where these are specifically outlawed anywhere. I did hear where some States and Canada do not allow the sequential brake light function. I have not been able to verify this, but it makes sense that if it was an issue, it would be the brake lights, and not the signals.

This is why my kits have the ability to disable the brake light sequence. You have a choice on how to set up the modules, and better yet, if you find that brake light sequencing is not allowed, you can turn it off.

To be sure, you should check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles for verification.

I have your product. To disable the brake light sequencing and have three brake lights on each side requires running a wire from the dash area to the trunk, right? If so, do you have instructions for doing this? Thanks.

This is the reason why I will go with your kit when I do get my car. I appreciate a manufacturer that takes things like this into consideration and makes it user friendly to the customer. Being in the military I move to a different place at least every three years and it would be a pain to have to change things constantly depending on the laws of that state or country. A simple switch is much nicer!

You could also just buy the Meter4it chase/sequential lights. It's what I have and they offer the choice of chase, sequential, or stock by just changing a jumper. That way if the safety inspector has a problem with it, you can just switch it back to stock setting with a jumper temporarily. Also, I like the chase sequence better. Check 'em out here. They have a video that shows the difference between sequential and chase.
