+1 on the dipstick handle. I took mine off and put the stock handle back on.

I don't think you will be disappointed with what we come out with if you can hang on. I know we'd like to always be first to market, but sometimes it's better to be right than to have "Gen V" or whatever iterations come out, all the while selling loads of the parts that really shouldn't be out in the market...
I didn't know you planned on tackling the underhood. Well, then I will most definitely wait. I'd rather have a product that fits correctly and is made of quality materials (and is backed by a great reputation).

Hello, my name is Paul, the webmaster of partscheap.com, and now a paying authorized advertiser on this forum. I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with the Scott Drake caps, and/or having not received them yet. Sometimes I miss e-mails that come in or do not have a good answer for you right away due to back-orders and bad communication from Scott Drake, for this I apologize.

Scott Drake is not the easiest company to deal with, however their products are popular and we keep a large quantity of their items in good stock because of this. Many of their products require slight modification, extra adhesive when needed, etc. And I always try to note this on the site when I find out about such problems. We have every piece in stock for the engine dress up set except for the dip stick handles which I have been begging them to deliver for months now.

The dip stick handles had a defect from Scott Drake concerning the o-ring getting stuck in the tube. The solution to getting it to fit right is similar to lubing the gasket on an oil filter when you put in on, just take some engine oil, rub the o-ring, and then insert the handle, it should go right in. If any damage was caused to your vehicle or the parts because of caps falling off, not fitting right, or the o-ring breaking. I urge you to call Scott Drake directly and speak to Paul Kerner. He will take care of you.

I just found out that my sales rep has been on sick leave for the past week and that is why I have not received any phone calls, I spoke to management this morning and they said the dip stick handles are probably in their building now and getting ready to be stocked in and shipped out. As soon as he calls me back I will get these dip stick handles shipped out. Note that these are the new redesigned dip stick handles that do not have the problem with the o-ring being stuck.

Any defective parts we send back to Scott Drake, trash, or use as display models. I do not want to sell you defective parts that could damage your vehicle. Nor do I charge anyone until the part is on the UPS truck heading to you. I hope this answers your concern and again I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you Paul. Glad you popped in here. No news, to me anyway, is like bad news, when waiting on any upgrade being planned. Being a Dealer of other's ware's is sometimes a tough spot, especially if something goes awry. This thread got me worried. Thank you also for the prompt e-mail back to me today regarding my order. It was very reassuring with that tracking number showing it's on it's way.

Maybe Scott Drake is to busy making parts for Shelby to have time for anybody else.

Hey Paul, thanks for showing you concern. So what are the chances of getting the oil cap replaced and the dip stick handle as well? I lubed the o-ring on the handle everytime I put it back in, but it still got torn up. And the oil cap, well, it just plain 'ol did not tighten down well as evident by the half quart of oil in my engine bay and garage floor.

And that's why I won't even bother to call. Rather deal with the distributor.

Thanks for the heads up Marcello. May just keep you in mind if I have to replace all these.

I'm sure Marcello will post about them, and I will be sure to post pictures as always. There will be plenty of buzz when the parts are close to available.

It's too bad, too. From all the pictures, they're beautiful looking parts and would look very nice. But most of us actually drive our cars, so function has to come before form for items like that. And the quality of SD parts are not Paul's fault, this is Scott Drake. Just to clarify that.

Yep I like the look of the SD Part's too. Still want the entire set, but without the "Mustang" dipstick hande. I know I have a Mustang. I want the one that boasts 710 under the hood..............................

We will. Like I said, we're concentrating on finishing the interior pieces first, then we will move forward under the hood. The parts are all "relatively" simple mill/turn parts, and we've got the capability to produce them, it's just a matter of getting them done and into the pipeline. Similar to the A/C ***** for the 07+, where we had them done for almost 6 weeks sitting here because we wanted to have all of the 05-06 and all finishes ready before releasing them - better to wait a little longer than have a disaster of giant proportions from backorders on our hands. And even then, it's still not "normal" yet, and won't be for another few weeks.

For Paul - very proper of you to come here and be up front and honest with your customers. We also sell a select group of other company's products, and to be the one in the middle is not an easy place to always be.

Thanks for jumping in Paul. I didn't want you to leave me hanging out here on a limb.

Yeah, we were going to blame Rich for all this, not Paul. By the way Rich, you owe me 1/2 quart of Royal Purple 5W-20....

By the way, Paul has already contacted me and is working with SD to resolve my issues. It's really up to SD on whether it gets resolved or not. Thanks again to Paul!!!
