Can anyone give me the dimensions (height, lenght and max. width) of the Roush hood scoop, please?

Roush isnt a bad looking hood scoop but looks so tiny on the 05s.. so do shakers for that matter.

Maybe you're right, I have not decided yet if I'll go with the Roush hood scoop. I also prefer the CDC shaker, but in my country it will be a problem to
be legaly approved.
I don't know what to do... :scratch:

 

Just installed one on mine. I think its plenty big and proportioned well for the car. Even more noticalble from behind the wheel.

I also agree that the Roush scoop dimensions are fine for the '05 hood. I had the Roush scoop and liked it a lot. One thing though... IMO you need stripes to make the Roush scoop look really good. Without stripes, it does look a little small.

I finally got the Roush Scoop in the mail and had one question. Is the drilling really necessary or will the proper adhesion methods do the job? How fast would you actually have to be going for it to rip off the hood?

Well tape can fail over time, particularly if there was an area that did not take. Over time water gets in and the area of disbondment increases. Drilling the holes is no biggie ... sounds like you may want to remove it later? While the scoop is a pretty good match to the hood, its not exact, so perfect contact is not always possible. My painter had trrouble with mine, so areas of the hood pulled away. he eventually had to remove the tape Roush used and put on his own. So far its sticking, but its bolted down too.

 

I would suggest going and buying some Good double sided tape too. The tape provided by Roush is not the best quality. I also got the Roush louvers and they were almost falling off with the tape provided. I took them off and put on some good tape, and they dont budge now!

 

Does anyone put a screen of some sort so bugs and stuff doesn't get trapped in the scoop?

The Roush scoop comes with a solid plastic "grille" that blocks anything from getting in. You can make it functional like I did when I had mine. Just takes cutting a hole in the hood and replacing that solid plastic piece with a piece of wire mesh. I bought a piece of gutter guard at Home Depot and bent it using the stock Roush plastic piece to match the curve of the hood scoop. Then I painted it flat black and attached it to the scoop. I had planned to fabricate some sort of real ram air setup with some flat rectangular aluminum flashing or plastic tubing, but never got a chance to. What I did do though is cut a small hole in the hood insualtion blanket right over the air filter (there is actually a rectangular indention over it on the insulation. Of course, you need an aftermarket intake with a conical filter for this to work. But then I took out the insulation blanket fastener that was between the hood scoop and the intake filter. That way, when the air came in from the scoop, at least some of it was brought straight to the intake, rather than just filling up into the engine bay or between the hood and blanket.

Here is a pic (after my wreck) of the hood and scoop. You can see how it is functional.
