Anybody have any experience with RKSports stuff. I see LM Performance has listed a new hood from them that resembles the hood on the show car.

They also have some '06 GT500 replicas for $220

I dont know about anyone else but Im really loving this hood . It looks almost exactly like the one on the silver concept stang.

Which I thought was a sort of preview of a future Shelby, which we now know its not. I still love the sleek , modern look to the soops, very understated.

Keep an eye on this thread as there are several people getting the new hood. We're all just waiting to see how the QC on this model of hood is compared to their first hood...

That hood is pretty cool. Someone from LM posted about it on a different forum a month or so back wanting to know if people were interested in a presales price on it.

Personally, I dig this hood.

I dig that hood. it looks really nice - even better that it's black I pre-ordered my hood fro RKSport & will be receiving it tomorrow according to the shipping company. I spoke with a rep from RK about the quality of the hood as it was a concern of mine. He assured me that I would be blown away by the quality of construction & said that the only work that the hood would need is just some minor sanding so that the paint sticks. We'll see... I'll post pictures tomorrow after delivery.

last time someone needed minor work on an RKSport hood it cost them an arm and a leg. I dig that hood on the black car. Pretty cool.

The RKSport California Dream Hood has a very high profile. The cowl sits 3" taller than a stock hood. Apparently they've made room for a supercharger under it.

I like this one!

Can you do comparison measurements?
ie. both hoods on flat surface and measure stock cowl height from flat surface and the new hood's cowl height from flat surface?? Thanks!

meausrements for the stock hood is roughly 5 in & the new hood is 7 1/2 in give or take an 8th. while i was doing that i did notice some low spots that will need to be built up -- similar to vegasjay's situation. but they are extremely minor - if i didn't have such a critical eye - i prolly wouldn''t even notice.

i'm lovin' this hood though -- looks great!

Lou, have you had a chance to road test the hood yet?
I am asking because I wanted to know if it will need hood pins or not.
Does it fit with the stock air box on or did you have to go to a CAI for it to work?
Some of the pictures of the underside look like the air inlet comes down where the airbox is. Just wondering. I do have both but want to be able to run the car with the stock box also.

Steve -

fits perfect w/ the stock air box -- I'm waiting for my cai kit - but i don't see any problems there either. should be enough room both ways. i'm leaving the hood on my car until i get it painted - so i've been driving w/ it on & haven't experienced any problems yet. I've only been up to about 85 mph so far though.

I've also ordered frpp pins - but still not sure on whether i'm going to install or not.

Thanks Lou.
I bet you can't wait to get it painted.
Did you put the insulation back on the inside?
I guess if you did you would have to cut out the open area.
You ever go to HPE off 249 to do any tuning?
Which CAI and tune are you getting?

Puting hood pins in this hood will be a bit of a challenge. The only place i could see to put them would be on the far outside edge of the crossmember (same crossmember I have my pins in now). The problem with that is that's where the headlight mount bolt's up.... :bang: Look's like will have to get creative.

Hey Lucky, run that baby up to 130 or so... That way I know if I need to start racking my brain on the hood pin's.

It can be done, just going to require some good ol'fashion ingenuity... I'm acctually checking it out right now as it's become a challenge and I like a good challenge. BTW: Congrat's Johnny, on the new baby girl!!

run it up to 130 huh ??? don't know about that one just yet. i think i'll let someone else be the guinea pig 1st. i understand what your saying about the pins though. when i spoke to the rep from RKsport he advised me that if i was going to run her over 80mph -- that i should invest in pins. let me know what you come up with after completing your research.

Steve - I haven't put the insulation back on - because i will have to drill the holes first for the plastic pins that are used to attach it. I tried taking of the insulation off of the stock hood & some of those pins just won't give. I think what i'll do is go to the dealership & order one + pins for the new hood.

I'm going w/ the steeda cai - so far the only mod i've made other than the hood is installing bassani's x-pipe & exhaust - i'haven't done any tuning yey - but it's definitely on the agenda.
