I have the Redline hood struts on my stock hood. Has anyone had them installed on their RKSport hood? I had no problems drilling sheet metal - fiberglass is another beast I have no idea about. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hey - I emailed MO from RK Sport about this when I was buying my hood and asked him this - he said he would NOT recommend installing these on the fiberglass hood - looks like I am sticking with the old prop rod!

I used the lift on the RKSport GTR hood. Eventually the heat warped the hood (athe the area of the lift meets the hood). I think it is becuase I left my hood open via the lifts in the hot garage during my ProChrarger install. I hope you have better luck than I have had.

My opinion is they are needed, just don't keep you hood open very long and be very carefull about closing the hood.

Thanks for the replies guys. I do love the hood struts. Can't believe in this day & age that auto manufacturers still use prop rods...

I don't plan on putting any on mine.
I 've heard too many bad things happening with them on fiberglass hoods.

Why not? Virtually no weight, nothing to replace, nothing the slightest bit complex. If they're going to cut costs, that's one place I don't mind.
