I noticed the RK Sport GTR Ram Air hood has vents built into the hood that direct the cool air towards the space where the air inlet would be, does the RK sport Mustang California Dream Ram Air hood do the same thing?

You can see in this picture of the bottom of the GTR hood's bottom side, it has a vent towards where the engine air inlet would be.

I believe so. So a search and there are several threads with pictures. If I remember right, one of the threads had a picture of the bottom of the hood and both vent scoops were plummed internally in the hood to open up over the air box.

Yes it does, but what good does it do? The stock air intake box pulls air in from the bottom, up through the filter, then into the engine. If the hood is forcing air from above, you'll have bugs in your engine, 'cause the filter is bypassed. I have already ordered this hood without thinking this through. I was not figuring on a CAI just yet, and just went by what someone here had said about cutting a hole in the top of the box. So much for that. I may have to go non-funtional until funds replenish, unless someone has an idea?

One post, one pic, total chaos. I have wireless internet service, and I think the combination of me trying to submit an attachment, and an aircraft flying by, and something about the full moon, really screws up my posts. I can't even edit them! Most of the time it works ok........

Don't forget that Mars is close to the Moon also this week.
Hey, I think that is my car in the pictures you are trying to post.

Buy a CAI - it's worth it!

I have only driven in the rain a few times since I got the hood on the car, but haven't had any trouble with water getting in.
I think the vents may be on the angle of the hood so water may go in but also go out when you stop. I does come out when you wash the car. Also the opening over the airbox has a lip that works like a gutter for water that gets that far. There also may be some channels for water to go down and out, but I haven't looked at it that hard.

Here in New Orleans it rains its butt off almost every day at times, so water getting in would be a concern of mine. Also if I had a aftermarket intake there would be no cover over the filter to act as a gutter...correct? Not that I am planning on this hood (kinda like the cowl one better) but just food for thought.

I have driven through a FEW good downpours already here in South Florida - so far I have no NO issues whatsoever.

YES, I really think its the angle of the vents - plus the fact that the air has to follow the CHANNEL (BIG right turn) to get to the filter keeps the water from becoming a nuisance.....

And someone said bugs???.....
Well the grill on the vents are pretty effective - so far I have not found one carcass of any type in the engine bay (and yeah I am not far from the everglades).

Steve!!!
Gotta send out a BIG thank you bro - your directions were great - my brother and I pinned my hood two weekends ago and we really appreciated your directions. I'll get some pics up after I get my Eibach springs in (hopefully this weekend). I have a few cool shots of the car with NO nose on it too THAT was sure weird.... although not as weird as the first time you see that drill bit work its way through the outer skin of the hood that first time.

Gaaaah..... that's enough to make you crap your shorts......

Hitting 90 mph that first time after it was done though and not seeing that front left corner start to shimmy.... boy that was a nice feeling

(BTW - I am still getting used to a fiberglass hood - out of the highways here, it can get pretty windy sometimes and the center of the hood up at the leading edge just outside the windshield flexes a bit in heavy wind at high speeds being a lighter weight material - that takes some getting used to!)

If you have an open filter like a K&N, or others, the oil that you coat the filter with should help keep water vapor out.... if you're that concerned about water, take a drill and put some low point holes in the duct.. don't have to be very big, just enough for the water to flow out of... and it should have minimal effect on your airflow.

My hood also flexed at the windsheild until I added the rubber insulator back on to help it a bit.
I didn't drill any holes, just got the kind you put on with the adhesive tape back. I also left the center area open to take advantage of the cowl effect.
This helped out greatly. not much flex at all now.
