Repainting my mustang

Repainting my mustang
I am buying a 2005 used mustang and it is light blue. The finish is flawless, there are no scratches, dings, or dents in the finish. The car only has 30000 miles and it is pretty much brand new. The only problem is the color. I want to get it repainted black, can anyone tell me how much it should cost??

It is going to cost you a lot of money and actually devalue the car in my opinion. Unless you have it done right (which = expensive) you will always see areas of windvile blue paint in and around the engine bay. There are lots of black stangs out there for sale. I'd find one of those. Even if this car you are talking about is a good deal, you will end up paying a lot more for it in the end if you paint it.

Not intending to thread jack here, but does anyone know around how much repainting a car the same color should cost? Sorry for the noob question but my paint is eventually going to need this.

Yeah, find a black mustang for sale. You won't have a problem finding one. Windveil blue was a limited color so for one, don't take that away from the car, and 2nd you will be wasting alot of money and you will not get a factory finish on a total repaint. Just find a black mustang and you've already got your color, take the thousands that it would take to paint that blue one and put it towards something else.

a paint job can vary in price depending on how it is done. This is one case where the old saying"you get what you pay for " definitely applies. You can get the entire car painted ofr as little as $2k or as much as $25K.
Personally, I would not change the color. that would be a major job if you want to do it right. You'g have to paint the engine bay , the door jambs, the inside of the trunk and parts you can't even see. lBack is a tough color also if it is no done right. After it's painted, black is the toughest color to maintain. It shows every speck of dust or dirt and develops micro scratche very easily.

A paint job will probably cost around 4k to 7k. As others have mentioned if you want a black stang buy a black stang. I will also say +1 to the maintain comment but black is one of the best looking colors when it is clean.

It depends on how good of a job you want as well. You could pay someone $150.00 to paint it but it will not look like a $10,000 job. Also, what are you going to do about the engine bay? Might look silly showing people the car and then popping the hood to see a totally different colour.

thanks for the input guys, the engine bays is black already, dont ask me why. But the mustang price was right and it only has 30000 miles. I am going to get a estimate from the body shop that specializes in repainting sports cars a different color. I havent bought the mustang yet, so I guess I will see what they say.

If the engine bay is already black and the rest of the car is blue you might want to find out if the car was in any accidents. Not too many people would spend the money on a car to have it painted a different colour and then sell it.

Unless the previous owner was going for an old school look I would absolutely investigate the matter a little further. Sounds like the engine bay may be black in order to hide something.
