Removing 3m double-sided tape

Hey guys, I searched but couldnt find what I was looking for.

I have an SCT plastic decal on the back of my GT, and I'd like to remove it, cleanly, without leaving any residue, so i can put something on the other side. Whats the best way to remove an item from the paint that is stuck on with double-sided tape, without risking yanking off the paint or clearcoat?
A friend of mine also wants to know because he has a faux hood scoop on his car he wants to remove. Thanks guys.

Take some fishing line (about 12 inches or so) tie a stick (for handle) on each end, place the line between the emblem and the car's surface and with a "sawing" motion move through the tape. After the emblem comes off use GooGone to clean the residue from the car's surface.

I think you are the only person that I am aware of that actually stuck on the "SCT" emblem to the exterior of their 'Stang!

Do the fishing string thing and goo gone or a product called Goof Off works good at removing the residue left over from the tape.

Waxed dental floss works well too. Heat it up w/ a hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

WD40 will remove the sticky as well, in case you don't have any goo gone handy....

+1 3M adhesive remover works VERY well. Try Napa or Pep Boys or somewhere similar. It's an excellent all around solvent.

I have the CDC blackout and apparently I didnt prep the surface well enough and about a quarter of it started pulling off the car. I pulled the whole thing off but now I have to replace the 3M tape of the blackout panel. I

S there an easy way to get it off the panel. There are places where it is the full amount of tape, as if you have just pulled the red plastic stuff off of it. I ahve tried a razor blade but due to the curve of the panel it doesnt work too well. Thanks for any help.

+2 on the 3M.

Also works great on the little sticky squares on the factory Bullits.
