Rear window louvers
#1
Wanted to get some input from you guys to see what you think of the rear window louvers?
Do you think they should be painted along with the mirrors to match the body color or leave black? Looking for some input. Thanks in advanced!

Looks alright but I think if you had black stock spoiler it would really look good!

I thought about those myself, but they are just too big for my taste.

I would paint them also. Are those metal or plastic?

I think you should paint them if your louvers are painted as well. I also think they look good in that last picture on the first post, even though I probably wouldn't go that route

Theyre hard to see out of while backing up just for anyone in the throws of buying one

I've installed the one piece MRT Louvers to my car and find that they pose little to no perceptible impediment to my rearward vision.
Painting the Louvers:
I'm leaving mine black. I am vacilating on painting the rear spoiler since I also have Lemans stripes on my car...
Installation:
I did find that the MRT Template for positioning the hinge plates on the glass did not conform to my rear window. It was, however close-enough.. The trick is to find the exact center of the window, mark it on some masking tape and then align the top/center of the template. It was the "ends" of the template that did not align well. I just balanced the mis-match so it was evenly distributed.
Review:
Fit is a little better than fair. It does not quite cover the rear window edge to edge / top to bottom.
Finish - Satin black powder coating. I noticed some spots near the center support stringers that run from front to back - where the powder coating was thin enough to see the aluminum underneath.
Unlike the OEM Louvers from 69-70 - these do not rattle. This must have something to do with the welded construction.
There is no "Holder" or "Prop-Rod" to hold them open while cleaning the rear glass. This isn't a big con, and if one was built into the louver - it would probably rattle.
Concerns include -
1) The lifespan of the plastic latches
2) The durability of the powder-coating in a corrsoive environment (winter / salt air)
Overall - I would rate this mod as a 9.2 out of 10. It could be made higher with better quality latches and better installation instructions / template. Installation time was 45 minutes only because I am so **** about measuring things a half dozen times and mocking up the installation..
