Rear panel blackout
Just met with my local bodyshop about the rear panel blackout. I take delivery of the car in 2 hours 15 minutes so I had to find something to do for the morning
He said I had two choices:
1 Gloss finish: Smooth transition from paint colors and buffing / waxing would not be an issue in the future.
2 Matte finish: Nice retro look, paint transition would be about the thickness of paper, future buffing would turn it glossy and waxing could be an issue.
What do you guys think?

You will have another option soon--a "smoked panel" which will install on the decklid. It will cost around $60. I do not know how it will install. I encourage you to not apply paint until I get more information.

Only problem with that panel for some stereo buffs is that is another piece that we would need to deal with regarding rattles, like the car doesn't have enough of those already.
If I had to paint, it would be gloss for me

I think a matte finish looks better on yellow than a gloss to me. Just my opinion, but either way I'd wait to see what that aftermarket panel looks like. I have a honeycomb rear panel on my '01 and the matte stripes on the front of my car matches it better than a gloss finish would.
my stripes are a decal, and just wax around them
